Alice: Madness Returns-inspired game Dithered announced
Indie developer Bugged Games has announced Dithered, a new action-adventure thriller game reminiscent of Alice: Madness Returns.
Dithered is in development for Windows PC (via Steam) with a release already set for sometime in Q1 2026.
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus its reveal trailer:
In Dithered, you step into the small, trembling shoes of Penelope—a girl trapped in a toy-box limbo of her own trauma. This isn’t a world of physics; it’s a world of feelings. The heavy hum of the fog hides the things that click and scrape in the dark, while your only companions tell you it’s just a bad dream.
Is This a Fever? A Hallucination? Or Has the World Simply Decided to Stop Making Sense?
You know the way. You have walked it a thousand times. Between the picket fences and the rusted bus stops, the path to school was always a straight line. But today, the line has snapped. The sky is bleeding pixels, the neighbors are static, and the horizon is a jagged void.
A Corrupted Lens
The world isn’t just broken; it’s dissolving. Experience a striking, dithered aesthetic where the low-poly shadows dance with a noisy, crunching life of their own. This isn’t just “retro”—it’s a memory that has been left out in the rain, a miniature world of decay, aliased and beautiful, rotting at the edges of your vision.

Sweet ‘n Sick Inc.
“Don’t mind the labels, the warnings, the skeletons on the glass. Those are just old words from a world that forgot how to smile! My recipes turn ‘burning water’ into ‘nectar of the clouds.’”
The Weight of Innocence
You are a small child in a world of giants. Combat is not about being a superhero; it’s about weight and desperation. Every swing of your improvised weapon consumes Stamina. Every dodge must be timed perfectly. Fight back against the “Pencil-Legged Abominations” and “Rotting Teddy Bears” using a combat system that rewards patience, pattern recognition, and the courage to strike back at your nightmares.
Silence or Scream
In every glitch, there is a choice. There are many authors of your grief. You are not alone in the static. Coco and Molly, two birds with spinning heads and honeyed words, are your guides. They’ll tell you the monsters are just rats. They’ll tell you the blood is just spilled juice. Who do you trust when your eyes see the rot, but your friends sing of sunshine?
Will you follow Coco and become a storm of splintered rage and fire? Or will you listen to Molly and slip through the static like a ghost in the drywall? Smash the gate or pick the lock. Fight the nightmare or hide from it. Every decision scars the architecture of your limbo, leading to an ending you might not be ready to hear.
“There is no ‘right’ way to survive grief – only ‘your’ way!”
“The fog is thick this morning, honey. It’s making your head fuzzy. You missed the bus, you’re stressed…”
