Kid Rock’s ‘underage’ girl lyrics resurface before alternative Super Bowl 2026 halftime show
On Tuesday, Turning Point USA released its lineup for “The All-American Halftime Show,” an alternative option for football fans who don’t want to watch Bad Bunny‘s performance during Super Bowl 2026.
Kid Rock will headline the Charlie Kirk-founded group’s halftime show. Country stars Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett will also perform.
Many conservative leaders, including Vice President JD Vance, took to social media to show their support for the event. “Fantastic lineup for the TPUSA halftime show, including the great Bob Ritchie AKA KID ROCK” wrote Vance.
But given the recent release of the Epstein files, public sensitivity regarding the grooming and abuse of minors has been at an all-time high. While Kid Rock’s name appears in the documents, he has not been accused of any wrongdoing. However, social media users began revisiting problematic lyrics from Kid Rock’s career.
Many highlighted the song “Cool, Daddy Cool,” which appeared on the soundtrack for the 2001 children’s movie “Osmosis Jones.”
In the third verse, Kid Rock sings: “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage. See some say that’s statutory.”
The late rapper Joe-C, who was featured on the song, then adds, “But I say it’s mandatory.”
On social media, people have made light of the controversial lyrics.
“So why Kid Rock heading that wannabe half time show? These are lyrics of a pedophile. These are his lyrics,” said one user on X.
Another opined: “Fun Fact: Kid Rock once literally sang ‘I like ’em underage’ — including on a song tied to a kids’ movie soundtrack — but MAGA is upset about Bad Bunny because he speaks Spanish. The TPUSA halftime show is for people who defend pedophiles.”
Others have gone as far as mocking the event by calling it the “Pedobowl.”
Neither Kid Rock nor Turning Point USA have addressed the criticism around the song.
However, after being announced as the headliner, the “All Summer Long” crooner took a jab at the Latin superstar and his upcoming performance on social media.
“He’s said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish,” said the country singer in a social media post. “We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”
Bad Bunny, who averages 83 million monthly listeners, is one of the globe’s most popular music artists. He won Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards this month, a first for a Spanish-language album, and criticized ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) during his acceptance speech.
Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show will be broadcast on YouTube and X, as well as conservative networks like Real America’s Voice and OAN. The show will start around 8 p.m. ET Sunday, Feb. 8, when halftime begins at Super Bowl LX.
