John Wick PS5 game revealed with Keanu Reeves starring
A big-budget, AAA John Wick game is now in development, and Keanu Reeves is confirmed to be reprising the iconic role. From early story details to our first look at gameplay, here’s everything you need to know.
It’s been 12 years since the Baba Yaga first captivated audiences on the big screen. Since then, the John Wick franchise has evolved with numerous sequels, TV shows, spinoff films, and yes, even an earlier video game too.
However, we’ve never had a proper blockbuster in video game form. John Wick: Hex, which arrived in 2019, was a tactical RPG from an overhead perspective. Not quite the action-packed thrillride we see on screen.
Now, we’re finally getting the AAA treatment. An explosive John Wick game is in the works for the PS5, and we’ve already got our first look at what to expect.
Is there a release date for the John Wick PS5 game?
No, there’s no telling when the John Wick game may arrive. Our first look came on February 12, 2026, but there was no mention of a release date, or even a rough release window.
We first heard rumblings of a John Wick game at the start of 2026 during an earnings call wherein Lionsgate outlined plans for both John Wick and Saw to get AAA games. Therefore, it still appears to be rather early in the development pipeline.
The AAA John Wick game doesn’t have an official title yet. Therefore, it’s still fairly early in development.
As such, it’s safe not to expect an imminent launch. Rather, the John Wick game is likely targeting 2027 or 2028, if we were to hedge our bets.
What platforms will the John Wick game be on?
So far, the John Wick game is only confirmed for the PS5. No other platforms have been announced.
Given it’s being made by Saber Interactive, not a first-party Sony studio, there’s every chance we learn more about its place on other platforms in the near future. We wouldn’t rule out an Xbox Series X | S and PC launch, but it doesn’t look like one that’ll run on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Story details: Where does it fit in the John Wick timeline?
Game Director Jesus Iglesias confirmed the yet-to-be-titled John Wick game is being created in close collaboration with series creator and director Chad Stahelski, along with Keanu Reeves as well.
As such, the narrative is canon and takes place during the timeline we know thanks to the films. Exactly where on the timeline it falls is yet unclear, but the game is set to “contribute to the expansive and rich lore of the franchise.
“It’s an original narrative that addresses a significant time in John Wick’s life, featuring well-known and iconic characters, as well as compelling new characters.”
We would certainly expect to see the likes of Winston and the Bowery King, but it remains a mystery how new characters may get involved.
Gameplay details
Mincing no words, developers have been clear this is a “AAA John Wick game.”
As we’ve already seen through the first glimpse of gameplay, much of it revolves around intense melee and weapon-based combat. A great deal of the hand-to-hand combat plays to the surroundings, too, with Wick able to grab cutlery or guns in the environment to survive an encounter.
Lionsgate / Saber InteractiveOf course, gun-fu is at the core of the AAA John Wick game.
Beyond the fighting, however, there’s also set to be “intense driving experiences” as well. We’re yet to see what that looks like, however.
One aspect devs have emphasized is their ambitions to “blur the line between movies and games. Everything is designed to faithfully mimic the movie experience in a meaningful, fully playable way.”
Trailers
We got our first look at the untitled John Wick game during the February 12, 2026 State of Play event. It revealed the game, the fact that Keanu Reeves is returning to voice the character, and even showed us a few snippets of gameplay.
That’s everything we know about the upcoming John Wick game for now, but we’ll be sure to update you here as any further details emerge.
