Throughout the teardown, they note several engineering details, including the noticeably thicker MagSafe magnets and the intricate layering beneath the curved camera bump. Using a combination of heat, isopropyl alcohol, and patience, they manage to separate the metal plates and strip away the paint to reveal the phone’s clean, minimalist internals. After a few failed experiments, such as attempting to use gallium to dissolve metal plates that turned out not to be aluminium, they successfully restore the components and reassemble the phone.
The result is a fully functional, transparent iPhone Air showcasing its beautifully arranged internals, a feat even Suhaib calls one of their best mods yet. The YouTuber does an excellent job of making the iPhone Air’s back panel transparent. Do check out the full teardown video below for a closer look at the process.
