Sony’s Latest State of Play Now Officially the Most Watched Ever
Sony’s latest State of Play is already comfortably its most watched ever, proving the format is growing in popularity.
Despite only broadcasting days ago, on 12th February, the format holder’s latest livestream has already topped 3.2 million views. That’s more than 200,000 views more than the previous most-watched episode, June 2025’s instalment.
This figure ignores any potential co-streams and alternative languages, but it demonstrates how State of Play has been slowly improving in importance over the years.
Its viewership is still dwarfed by 2023’s disappointing PlayStation Showcase, which has racked up almost 5 million views since airing a couple of years ago – but it doesn’t look like the manufacturer intends to use that branding again. At least not in the short-term, anyway.
Perhaps most important this time is that the latest State of Play was universally well received, with our Push Square poll showing at least 83% thought it was good. Pleasing the majority in this era of gaming discourse is truly a remarkable feat.
Despite Sony’s stronger YouTube footprint, State of Play still has some way to go to catch up to Nintendo Direct; the most popular of those, March 2025’s edition, has attracted 6.4 million views to date.
But hey, things are clearly moving in the right direction for PlayStation’s industrious social media team.
