Winter Olympics 2026 Day 11 live updates: Mac Forehand takes silver in skiing Big Air
Team USA added two more silver medals to its count on Tuesday to keep pace at third in the overall medal count behind Norway and host nation Italy on Day 11 of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
American skier Mac Forehand delivered the second of those silvers in the men’s freeski Big Air final in one of the most competitive and entertaining events of the week so far. Forehand dueled with Austria’s Matej Svancer and Norway’s Tormod Frostad throughout a snowy night in Livigno, putting down a pair of 95.00 runs in his first two trips down the hill.
That was only good enough for bronze medal position by the time he was set for his third run, causing the American star to pull out a trick he’d never thrown in competition to earn a 98.25 with a “nose butter triple cork 2160” that briefly placed him on top of the standings.
Frostad swiped the gold medal back from Forehand by equalling that 98.25 on his final run, giving Norway its 14th gold of this year’s Games. While Forehand couldn’t nab gold, he walked away with an impressive silver medal in what commentators called the best Big Air competition they’ve ever seen with outrageous scoring from the entire field.
Along with Forehand’s silver, Team USA added another silver in the Men’s Speedskating Team Pursuit, finishing just behind Italy in the final as the Italians continue their great Olympics on home soil. With those two silvers, Team USA now has 21 total medals — third behind Norway and Italy and two clear of Japan.

Elsewhere in non-medal events, the men’s curling team fell out of position for the semifinals with a pair of losses to China and Italy that seriously dampened their medal hopes by dropping them to sixth in the standings. The women’s curling team, however, beat Denmark 10-3 in their match to stay tied for second with Switzerland and on track for a semifinal berth.
Both the men’s and women’s curling teams will face Great Britain in action on Wednesday, the USA men’s hockey team will play quarterfinal action and Team USA will look to add to its medal count in a few events, including the men’s and women’s snowboarding slopestyle competition.
