Disney Channel Alum Christy Carlson Romano Reveals Positive Cancer Test

Christy Carlson Romano is opening up about a positive test result she received after she screened herself for cancer.

The former Disney Channel star revealed the results in an emotional video to remind people to get tested for cancer.

Romano revealed in the Instagram video that she screened herself for cancer as it runs in her family, with both of her parents having it, adding, “My mom beat it. My dad eventually didn’t. My grandmother, on my mom’s side, had lung cancer and died from that.”

The Even Stevens alum said she got her results back, and they “did not come back negative,” which made her conclude she “may have stageable cancer.”

“I’m sure people think I’m overreacting, but I’m not, because cancer is pretty serious, and I have two little
girls,” she later said. “When you’re somebody like me, you gotta have to take life a day at a time, really be grateful for, like, all the amazing stuff around you.”

In her post, the Kim Possible alum said that all she knows now “is that something is going on,” adding, “I’m nervous and a bit scared (heck who wouldn’t be!). I’m going in for a PET scan later this week and hopefully it’s something easy to treat.”

Romano revealed she “debated whether or not I was going to post this because I was afraid I’d come off ‘cringe.’ But I decided it was my duty to share, so that people get out there and get screenings. Let’s keep the good vibes going and I will keep you all posted as I get more information.”
