Travis Kelce is betting on himself.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end proposed to his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, prior to the 2025 NFL regular season. Kelce had been dating Swift since the start of the 2023 NFL season. The happy couple announced their engagement on social media.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift wrote to her 218 million followers on Instagram.
The wedding could take place sometime in 2026. A big question on everyone’s mind, of course, is if there will be a prenup. Swift has a music empire worth more than $1 billion, after all.

Kelce, who has made hundreds of millions of dollars through his NFL contracts, endorsements and his podcast, is reportedly “fully supportive” of a prenuptial agreement with Swift.
“Taylor’s been upfront from day one with Travis that being in love doesn’t mean being careless,” said a source close to the pop star, according to a report.
“She’s poured decades of sweat into building her career and fortune, and she wants to make sure it’s secure, no matter how head-over-heels they are. And Travis gets that completely – he admires how driven she is and believes it’s important they both stay financially independent.”
The prenup is reportedly “ironclad.”
“Travis is clearly doing very well for himself,” one insider added, saying, “There’s no jealousy here – he really respects how sharp she is when it comes to business.”
Kelce’s true character and love for Swift is on display
Ever since they started dating, Kelce and Swift have faced accusations of doing it for publicity. It’s fair to say that both have benefited in popularity thanks to the relationship. Swift is getting put in front of hundreds of millions of NFL fans, while Kelce is seeing his social media profiles, podcast and more pop off thanks to the growing interest in Swift.
But the decision on the prenup agreement proves that this is for real. Kelce is not letting anything get in the way of his love for Swift. We’ve seen celebrity relationships falter in the past due to prenup agreement issues. But Kelce is making sure this won’t be the case with his relationship with Swift.
Kelce is also betting on himself. The three-time Super Bowl-winning tight end has amassed a nice fortune on his own. He’s also setting up some major plays for his post-football future, including acting (he appeared in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ earlier this year).
You always hope that the prenuptial agreement won’t come into play, but if it does for Swift and Kelce, neither one will be profiting off of the relationship.
That’s a good sign.
