Former Mavs star Luka Doncic says he ended his engagement, will ‘fight’ for his daughters
Former Mavericks star Luka Doncic is no longer with his longtime fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, and is seeking custody of their two daughters, he said in a prepared statement provided to The Dallas Morning News and first reported by ESPN on Tuesday.
Goltes, a Slovenian model, has filed a petition seeking child support for their two daughters, according to a report by TMZ.
“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” Doncic said in the statement. “Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”
The couple, who got engaged in July 2023, had their first daughter, Gabriela, in November 2023. Their second daughter, Olivia, was born in December.
That was the last time Doncic saw Goltes or his daughters, according to ESPN. The Los Angeles Lakers guard missed two games in December, reportedly to go to Slovenia for Olivia’s birth. Doncic was flying back to the United States for Los Angeles’ Dec. 7 game in Philadelphia and wanted to bring his eldest daughter back with him, ESPN reported.
That triggered a disagreement with Goltes, who called the police, according to the report. Officers responded to the hospital and reported they “did not detect any elements of a criminal offense or misdemeanor” related to Doncic, per ESPN.
He left peacefully and returned to the United States after the incident, ESPN reported.
Doncic and the Lakers host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night.
