Hilary Duff Updated Jimmy Fallon on “Chaotic” Life with Her Husband and Their Kids
It’s been ten years since fans have seen Hilary Duff make a television appearance — and she made the most of it on her March 9 Tonight Show appearance. In addition to performing her “Roommates” single and talking Lizzie McGuire, she gave fans the family update they’ve been craving.
Duff peeled back the curtain on her self-professed “chaotic” family with husband and fellow musician Matthew Koma.
It was an epic interview that started with adorable updates about her kids and ended with Jimmy Fallon receiving another dance lesson he won’t forget anytime soon. (But more on that later.)
Hilary Duff reveals how she and husband Matthew Koma handle their four kids

Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma, share four children. In 2012, Duff welcomed her first son, Luca, with her then-husband Mike Comrie. After Duff and Koma married in 2019, they welcomed three more kids: daughters Banks in October 2018, daughter Mae in March 2021, and son Townes in May 2024.
Fallon opened up the interview with a question that had Duff going down a rabbit hole.
“First off, how’s the fam? How’s everybody?” he asked.
“Oh, my God. Chaotic as ever, but the best,” Duff responded. “We’re having fun.”
As fans could probably imagine, the kiddos have full control of the television during the day, meaning — as many families know — Bluey is a staple of their morning entertainment.

But as Duff and her husband have quickly found out, controlling the music speakers in their house is a priority for the parents — especially in a home filled with such talented musicians. Koma is an established singer-songwriter, too, and the kids have already shown glimpses of musical greatness — kind of.
“They’re not savants by any means, but they can really get down,” she revealed.
Music is a main point of contention for Duff’s family. If mom or dad puts on their favorite music on the house speakers before the kids do, it sets the tone for the family. The star specifically cited Squeeze, Jackson Browne, and Counting Crows as their go-to artists.
“But if we don’t get to it first, it’s straight up for the whole entire day… like ‘It’s raining tacos,'” she confessed. “It’s absolutely horrific.”

However, keeping viewers updated on the viewing and listening habits of her family wasn’t the only topic on the agenda for the 38-year-old — she also gave Fallon a dance lesson he’d never forget!
Hilary Duff taught Jimmy Fallon her “With Love” dance
“I was wondering if maybe you can teach me some moves from ‘With Love,'” Fallon sweetly asked at the end of the segment, referencing the dance found in Duff’s 2007 music video.
Duff’s pitch-perfect response?
“Oh my God, I would be honored.”
And so viewers were treated to Fallon trying to learn the dance that every teenage girl in 2007 tried to emulate.

Following on-point directions like “Twist your arms down” and “push your butt out,” Fallon did his best to keep up with Duff’s now-iconic dance moves. He gave it the old college try, but let’s be honest: Nobody can bust out those nearly two-decade-old dance moves quite like Hilary Duff.
Fallon didn’t even make it through it all without injuring himself.
“I’m so off, I hurt myself,” he revealed. Watch Duff’s interview above, and watch her perform ‘”Roommates” below:
