When Major League Baseball released the preliminary Spring Breakout rosters, the rosters were overflowing with Top 100 Prospects.
Reality has now struck. With the release of the actual rosters, the number of Top 100 Prospects playing in these games has actually gone down significantly from last year. There are 52 Top 100 Prospects on the rosters, which is down from last year’s 67.
However, there are still plenty of players to watch. We’ve ranked each team’s roster in tiers from the top of the class to the bottom of the barrel.

Top-Tier Rosters
Athletics
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: SS Leo De Vries, LHP Jamie Arnold, SS Edgar Montero, SS/RHP Shotaro Morii
Why Fans Should Care: Even as the A’s rebuilt in the 2022 season, the returns did not move the needle for the farm system. So, to see them enter 2026 with a Top 10 farm system, headlined by Leo De Vries, definitely provides excitement for fans who are sticking around with the team in both Sacramento and ultimately, Las Vegas.
Cleveland Guardians
Top 100 Prospects: 3
Notable Players: 1B Ralphy Velazquez, SS Angel Genao, OF Juneiker Caceres, C Cooper Ingle
Why Fans Should Care: The Guardians have always been a team designed as a contact-driven organization. While that may still be true, they also have extra thump in the system thanks to the mighty bat of Velazquez, along with players with traditional Cleveland profiles like Caceres and Ingle.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Top 100 Prospects: 4
Notable Players: OF Josue De Paula, OF Zyhir Hope, OF Eduardo Quintero, OF Mike Sirota, RHP Christian Zazueta
Why Fans Should Care: The truth is, with how the MLB team is constructed, it’s likely most of these guys will be appealing trade candidates when the Dodgers are in contention at the trade deadline. Either way, the Dodgers are back-to-back World Series champions, and they continue to provide a strong farm system.
Milwaukee Brewers
Top 100 Prospects: 3
Notable Players: SS Jesús Made, SS Luis Peña, RHP Bishop Letson, C Jeferson Quero, 3B Brock Wilken
Why Fans Should Care: The opposite of the Dodgers, the Brewers are built on homegrown talent. We could also stop the conversation at Made, but Peña is right up there with some of the best prospects in baseball, plus Letson has been a strong development for their pitching.
Seattle Mariners
Top 100 Prospects: 4
Notable Players: SS Colt Emerson, LHP Kade Anderson, RHP Ryan Sloan, OF Lazaro Montes
Why Fans Should Care: Mariners fans have plenty to care about already, but seeing a glimpse into future for what could arguably be one of the best potential top ends in the majors is worth the price of admission. Emerson has a legit shot to help the MLB team by July, and Anderson could follow a Trey Yesavage-esque route and pitch in meaningful games down the stretch.
St. Louis Cardinals
Top 100 Prospects: 4
Notable Players: SS JJ Wetherholt, LHP Liam Doyle, C Rainiel Rodriguez, OF Joshua Baez
Why Fans Should Care: The Cardinals have four prospects who rank in the Top 60 in this game. This will be a first chance for many Cardinals fans to watch Doyle in action, and it will be a last chance to watch Wetherholt as a prospect, as he’s expected to be a key part of the big league roster this season.
Above-Average Rosters
Arizona Diamondbacks
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: OF Ryan Waldschmidt, SS Kayson Cunningham, 2B/SS Demetrio Crisantes, RHP Patrick Forbes
Why Fans Should Care: Waldschmidt, a PPI selection after Corbin Carroll won the 2023 NL Rookie of the Year award, had one of the best seasons by any Diamondbacks prospect. It’ll be the first time fans will get to see 2025 first-rounder Cunningham in a D-backs uniform, and Crisantes begins a year where health is key for his development.
Baltimore Orioles
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: RHP Trey Gibson, OF Nate George, 1B Ike Irish, OF Enrique Bradfield Jr.
Why Fans Should Care: Gibson is one of the Orioles’ best pitching prospects, but this game will also be an opportunity to see the next wave of O’s hitting prospects. George was a breakout star in Class A in 2025, while Irish was the biggest bat in a deep Orioles’ 2025 draft class.
Boston Red Sox
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: SS Franklin Arias, RHP Kyson Witherspoon, RHP Juan Valera, OF Justin Gonzales, SS Dorian Soto
Why Fans Should Care: It will be hard to ever match Boston’s 2025 Breakout roster, which included Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Kristian Campbell and Franklin Arias, but this one is quite impressive in its own right. Arias is the top hitting prospect while Witherspoon and Valera are excellent arms. Gonzales has a chance to post one of the best exit velocities of the breakout series if he squares one up.
Pittsburgh Pirates
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: SS Konnor Griffin, RHP Seth Hernandez, 2B Termarr Johnson, RHP Wilber Dotel
Why Fans Should Care: If not for the presence of Griffin and Hernandez, this would be an average-at-best roster. There are only four Top 10 prospects on the roster. But Griffin is the best prospect in baseball, which would make this must-see on its own. Adding the team’s top pick from 2025 (Hernandez) adds an extra layer of intrigue.
San Francisco Giants
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: SS Josuar Gonzalez, SS Luis Hernandez, OF Trevor Cohen, LHP Luis De La Torre, RHP Keyner Martinez
Why Fans Should Care: Unless you’ve been on the backfields the way Baseball America has, it’ll be the first time you’ll get to see Hernandez, their top international signing, play. There was also a strong pitching contingent in the ACL Giants, with De La Torre and Martinez taking the bump.
Tampa Bay Rays
Top 100 Prospects: 3
Notable Players: SS Carson Williams, OF Jacob Melton, OF Theo Gillen, SS Daniel Pierce, RHP Michael Forret
Why Fans Should Care: The Rays are one of the deeper prospect groups in the game, and that is evident with this roster, even if much of the Rays’ pitching will not be in uniform. This is a balanced lineup with excellent catching prospects, shortstops and outfielders.
Toronto Blue Jays
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: SS JoJo Parker, SS Arjun Nimmala, RHP Gage Stanifer, 3B Juan Sanchez
Why Fans Should Care: The Blue Jays’ pair of Top 100 shortstop prospects (Parker and Nimmala) will be on the field, and Stanifer is an excellent arm to watch as well. OF Yohendrick Pinango can really hit, but this will also be a chance to see if he can improve his outfield defense.
Average Rosters
Cincinnati Reds
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: C Alfredo Duno, SS Tyson Lewis, SS Steele Hall, 1B/3B Cam Collier
Why Fans Should Care: Duno had a healthy 2025 and solid AFL showing, and is the lone Top 100 player on the roster. Lewis had a booming bat in his pro debut and last year’s first-rounder Hall will be on hand to make his official Reds debut.
Colorado Rockies
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: SS Ethan Holliday, 1B Charlie Condon, RHP Brody Brecht, SS Roldy Brito, RHP Jackson Cox
Why Fans Should Care: For one, seeing the Holliday bloodline once again will be a feel-good moment for Ethan, the team’s No. 4 overall pick last season. Condon has already shown off his power in big league camp, while Brito proved to be the best hitter in the system last season.
Detroit Tigers
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: OF Max Clark, SS Bryce Rainier, SS Jordan Yost, OF Cris Rodriguez
Why Fans Should Care: It’s hard not to feel disappointed by this roster, even if it has a pair of Top 100 Prospects. The absence of SS Kevin McGonigle means we won’t see the No. 1 prospect in the game facing the No. 2 prospect—you have to have been locked in on the Altoona-Erie playoff series last year to fulfill that desire. Clark, the return of Rainier from a shoulder injury and the presence of Yost make this still a very solid roster. But there’s little pitching to watch here and it’s hard not to pine for McGonigle.
Los Angeles Angels
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: RHP Tyler Bremner, OF Nelson Rada, 3B Gabriel Davalillo, SS Joswa Lugo
Why Fans Should Care: This will be an excellent chance to see the Angels’ No. 1 prospect (Bremner), and all of the team’s top position players are scheduled to play as well. It is interesting to note that Davalillo’s move to third base seems sticky—he’s not listed as a C/3B.
Miami Marlins
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: C Joe Mack, OF Kemp Alderman, OF Cam Cannarella, OF Dillon Lewis
Why Fans Should Care: With Thomas White and Aiva Arquette recovering from injuries, this roster took a hit, but Mack is one of the better catching prospects in the game, while Cannarella is a speedy, hit machine.
Minnesota Twins
Top 100 Prospects: 2
Notable Players: OF Emmanuel Rodriguez, SS Kaelen Culpepper, LHP Dasan Hill, C Eduardo Tait, SS Marek Houston
Why Fans Should Care: Between Culpepper’s bat and Houston’s glove, the Twins have a pair of shortstop prospects playing who can make cases for helping the big league club in the not-too-distant future. Hill is a very high-ceiling pitching prospect and Tait has big-time power potential.
New York Mets
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: OF/2B A.J. Ewing, 1B/OF Ryan Clifford, 2B Mitch Voit, 3B/1B Jacob Reimer
Why Fans Should Care: There’s only one Top 100 Prospect (Ewing), but this does have a lot of the Mets’ best hitting prospects, other than Carson Benge, who is fighting for an MLB job. Between Jonathan Santucci and Jack Wenninger, there are arms to watch, as well.
Below-Average Rosters
Atlanta Braves
Top 100 Prospects: 0
Notable Players: SS Alex Lodise, SS John Gill, OF Diego Tornes, RHP Owen Murphy
Why Fans Should Care: Cam Caminiti is not on the roster, and the Braves do not have a lot of notable position prospects, but most of the hitters they do have are on the roster, led by Lodise, Gill and Tornes. In addition to Owen Murphy, Jhancarlos Lara will light up radar guns if he can find the strike zone.
San Diego Padres
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: C Ethan Salas, LHP Kruz Schoolcraft, RHP Miguel Mendez, SS/3B Jorge Quintana
Why Fans Should Care: Salas has been around the most and was once a famous name, but perhaps Schoolcraft’s potential brings a breath of fresh air to the organization. In a season when the farm was thinned out, Quintana was one of the few prospects added at the trade deadline.
Kansas City Royals
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: RHP Kendry Chourio, C Blake Mitchell, SS Josh Hammond
Why Fans Should Care: Chourio could be a Top 25 talent by the end of the season with the way he rose through the ranks last season. As a 17-year-old, he made it all the way to the Low-A playoffs with Columbia.
Washington Nationals
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: SS Eli Willits, SS Gavin Fien, SS Seaver King, SS Luke Dickerson, LHP Alex Clemmey
Why Fans Should Care: We’re going to have to see some positional versatility from the Nationals shortstops because there are seven shortstops on the roster. The Nats have one of the deepest groups of up-the-middle infield groups in the game and most of them will be on display.
Bottom-Tier Rosters
Philadelphia Phillies
Top 100 Prospects: 0
Notable Players: 2B Aroon Escobar, OF Dante Nori, RHP Matthew Fisher
Why Fans Should Care: The Phillies have a number of Top 100 Prospects, but they aren’t playing in the Breakout game. Only three ranked pitching prospects are on the roster. The lineup should be OK. Escobar can really hit, and Nori raised his profile with an excellent World Baseball Classic.
Houston Astros
Top 100 Prospects: 0
Notable Players: SS Xavier Neyens, OF Kevin Alvarez, C Walker Janek, OF Lucas Spence
Why Fans Should Care: Even with some notable absences, the Astros are fielding a representative lineup. But the Astros’ best pitching prospects are almost all missing the game, which means that the pitching staff could be a bit shakier.
Chicago Cubs
Top 100 Prospects: 0
Notable Players: SS Jefferson Rojas, 1B Jonathon Long, 1B/3B Cole Mathis
Why Fans Should Care: The system may not run deep, but Rojas still stands near the top of the organization. Long has worked from being a ninth-round selection into an impressive bat with developing power. Mathis, a second-rounder in 2024, spent most of the year injured and more needs to be seen of him.
Texas Rangers
Top 100 Prospects: 0
Notable Players: INF/RHP Josh Owens, SS/3B Yolfran Castillo, OF Dylan Dreiling, 3B Jack Wheeler, INF/RHP Seong-Jun Kim
Why Fans Should Care: Two-way prospects are rare, but the Rangers have two of them in the system. One from last year’s draft in Owens, and Seong-Jun Kim, who they signed for $1.2 million after the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes was won by the Dodgers.
New York Yankees
Top 100 Prospects: 1
Notable Players: SS George Lombard Jr.
Why Fans Should Care: Even with Lombard’s presence saving some amount of interest, this may be the worst Breakout roster. Lombard is the only member of the team’s Top 10 set to play. There’s no Spencer Jones, Dax Kilby, Elmer Rodriguez, Carlos LaGrange or Ben Hess.
There are only 11 Top 100 pitching prospects in Spring Breakout games, the Mariners have two of them with LHP Kade Anderson and RHP Ryan Sloan. Anderson is the top-ranked pitcher scheduled to throw and Sloan seems to have taken yet another step forward this spring.
But that’s not it, as the Mariners also boast SS Colt Emerson. He’s the No. 7 prospect in the Top 100, which makes him the fourth highest-ranked prospect in the Breakout Series.
With four Top 100 Prospects, Seattle has as many as anyone in the Breakout games, but it’s the quality of those prospects that make them the top-ranked team.
