Houston, did you hear the sonic BOOM? A meteor is the culprit!
HARRIS COUNTY, Tx – KPRC2 viewers called the station around 4:45 pm Saturday, reporting a loud sonic boom as a meteor flew overhead!

Hundreds of sky watchers from social media to American Meteor Society reported the shooting star and boom.

Waller County Judge Trey Duhon posted a loud explosion on Facebook:
“Waller County is BOOMING apparently…. And I’m not talking about growth
Apparently a meteor exploded earlier today somewhere near or over our County. I heard it inside the house and the house shook from it. It startled Lisa who was in the backyard.”
The loud boom was caused by the meteor disintegrating. NASA reports it unleashed 26 tons of TNT, creating a pressure wave that was heard and felt at ground level.
GOES East 19 Satellite detecting the meteor through its lightning detector- showing up as a green flash at 4:40 PM on March 21st.
