Reported explosion at Valero in Port Arthur sends black smoke and fire skyward
PORT ARTHUR — First responders rushed to the Valero facility in Port Arthur after a reported explosion that sent thick, black smoke into the sky.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for the west side of Port Arthur.
Sheriff Zena Stephens says the explosion was likely caused by an industrial heater.
A video sent in by KFDM viewer Gabriella Koenig showed giant clouds of black smoke and fire rising from the scene.
