Production on the fifth and final season of Outer Banks is continuing following an on-set incident, in which co-creator, executive producer, co-showrunner and director Jonas Pate allegedly grabbed and shook a production assistant, sources tell Deadline.
The Netflix series is shooting in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Pate, who is currently directing, allegedly shook the female crew member while shouting in her face several days ago.
According to TMZ, which first reported the incident, Outer Banks star Chase Stokes, who plays John B. Routledge, had to step in to separate them as Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah Cameron, also attempted to de-escalate the situation.
There has been no disruption in production after the confrontation, with Pate continuing to direct, sources said. Jonas Pate, who co-created and runs Outer Banks with his twin brother Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, typically directs six out of 10 episodes a season.
A rep for Netflix declined comment.
Outer Banks was renewed for a fifth and final season last November, ahead of the show’s Season 4, Part 2 debut on Netflix.
Season 4 left off with the Pogues in Morocco, after they were drawn back into the “G” game as they set out to find Blackbeard’s treasure. The heartbreaking finale saw the death of one of their own, when JJ Maybank (Rudy Pankow) is stabbed by his biological father.
