Last Wednesday, the Crown Heights Crohn’s and Colitis Support group had the honor of hosting Dr. Michael Dolinger for an evening dedicated to patients and caregivers living with Crohn’s or Ulcerative Colitis (Also known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD for short).
Dr. Dolinger is world-renowned for revolutionizing care in inflammatory bowel disease. As a leading researcher in the use of ultrasound to diagnose, detect, and monitor IBD, he has transformed the way doctors approach the disease. He travels extensively, teaching physicians and hospitals around the globe how to implement this innovative technology. Despite his demanding schedule and working alongside top researchers, publishing studies, and advancing medical knowledge, Dr. Dolingers’ favorite place is in the room with his patients, helping them heal and improve their quality of life.
He opened the evening by sharing his personal connection to IBD, which offered insight into what drives his deep commitment to this field. His passion was evident as he spoke about his mission to help patients not just manage their disease, but truly live their best lives.
Dr. Dolinger then guided the audience through the latest developments in IBD research, including promising technological advancements, using wearables, and with the help of AI. He believes these findings may one day lead to a cure. He discussed the role of environmental factors in the development of the disease, and reviewed various treatment options and strategies for managing IBD.
The evening concluded with an open Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to ask personal questions and gain valuable guidance directly from Dr. Dolinger.
One attendee expressed gratitude to the organization, noting that she “learned more about her Crohn’s in one presentation than she had in the past year living with it.”
Another member, who has been struggling with ulcerative colitis for over a decade, shared, “Hearing Dr. Dolinger speak about his personal connection to IBD made me feel seen and hopeful. His commitment to truly knowing his patients on a personal level really stands out in today’s world of medicine.”
Dr. Rosen, also in attendance, reflected on the evening, sharing that “it was such a powerful night. Dr. Dolinger is an excellent physician, stays current with the latest research, and cares deeply for each patient.”
The Crown Heights Crohn’s and Colitis Support group would like to thank Myriam from The Soul House, Micah Soffer from COLLive, and the generous support of anonymous donors for helping make this evening possible.
