Todd Bridges files for divorce from wife Bettijo Hirschi after 3 years
Actor Todd Bridges has officially filed for divorce from his wife of three months after revealing their split.
The “Everybody Hates Chris” alum, 60, made the filing on March 31 at the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona, officially seeking to end his union to Bettijo B. Hirschi after three years and six months of marriage, according to the petition obtained by USA TODAY.
Bridges and Hirschi, a designer, met and married on Sept. 21, 2022. The divorce filing indicates that the couple’s marriage is broken beyond repair and that marriage counseling was either unsuccessful or “would not work” for them, the filing states.
The “Diff’rent Strokes” star confirmed their separation on Jan. 15 in a statement shared by his representative, revealing that they made the difficult decision “After much prayer and reflection.”
“This was not an easy choice, and it comes with a heavy heart, but also with love and gratitude for the life we shared,” Bridges said in the statement.
“I thank God for the time we’ve had together, the lessons we’ve learned, and the family we’ve built,” he continued. “Even in this season of change, I trust He is guiding us both toward healing, peace, and new beginnings.”
The statement concluded: “I ask for privacy as we navigate this transition and continue to lift my former partner up in prayer, wishing them joy and fulfillment in the chapters ahead.”
In a 2024 appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show,” Bridges said that he met Hirschi after a friend showed him her online dating profile. They met soon after and got engaged six months later.
Bridges was previously married to Dori Smith Bridges from 1998 to 2012, and the pair share one son. Bridges also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
