3 women hurt after crash sends Metro bus plowing into restaurant in Northwest DC
WASHINGTON (7NEWS) — An investigation is underway after a crash caused a Metro bus to slam into a restaurant in Northwest D.C., leaving at least three people hurt on Saturday morning.
The crash happened on April 4 near 7th Street and Q Street, NW, where officials said the bus was hit and then careened into a building, ending up partially inside the AMBAR Restaurant, which was unoccupied at the time.
Authorities said three adult women were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries, including the bus driver.
Ongoing structural concerns at crash site
Emergency crews secured utilities and cleared the building while specialized teams continued working to safely remove the bus, according to DC Fire & EMS.
As of 10:05 a.m, Special Operators crews were breaking up a concrete lip to help pull the vehicle from the building.
Officials say a full structural evaluation of the building facade will be conducted once the bus is removed.
