Ohio’s first Buc-ee’s opens to the public. Take a look inside
The first Buc-ee’s location in Ohio is now officially open.Buc-ee’s in Huber Heights is holding its grand opening Monday. Doors opened to the public at 6 a.m. WLWT’s cameras saw people lining up at both entrances before doors opened Monday.Buc-ee’s is a chain of country stores and gas stations known for its world’s cleanest bathrooms title, fresh food and friendly beaver mascots.The Buc-ee’s is located off of I-70 near the State Route 235 intersection.A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 12 p.m. with local leaders including Gov. Mike DeWine and Mayor Jeff Gore.“We are excited to count Huber Heights as our first location in Ohio; they’ve been a great community to work with,” said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s.The store is a 74,000 square-foot facility and features 108 fuel pumps, electric vehicle charging and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More than 200 jobs are expected to come to the area with the opening of the store. The Huber Heights location may not be the only location for the popular and growing chain in the state for long.Mansfield Mayor Jodie Perry posted to Facebook, saying plans have been in the works to bring the popular travel center to the city.Perry said a petition for annexation was filed city, county and Madison and Mifflin Townships for the development of a travel center at the I-71 and Ohio 39 interchange.”This is the next step in a process that has already been in the works for months with a little company you may have heard of – Buc-ee’s,” Perry announced in her post to Facebook.
