Apple releases macOS 26.4.1 software update, here’s what’s new
Apple has just released a new software update for Mac: macOS 26.4.1. Here’s what to expect from the latest release.
macOS 26.4.1 arrives one day after companion iOS and iPadOS updates
Yesterday Apple shipped minor new software updates for both iPhone and iPad: iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1.
Now, the Mac has gotten its own update: macOS 26.4.1 is available now for all users.
Here are Apple’s very brief release notes:
This update provides bug fixes for your Mac

Though the release notes are ultimately unhelpful, it’s likely macOS 26.4.1 includes at least one of the changes uncovered in iOS 26.4.1.
Yesterday’s iPhone update fixed an iCloud bug that could stop data from syncing, including in first-party and third-party apps.
We’re expecting that the same fix is included in today’s macOS release. Apple does mention ‘bug fixes’ plural, so here’s hoping to even more fixes and performance improvements than that.
The only other known change in iOS 26.4.1 enabled Stolen Device Protection on enterprise iPhones. But that’s an iPhone-specific feature, so the Mac wouldn’t be impacted.
And even though Apple’s release notes mention security content, there were no new security updates in iOS and iPadOS 26.4.1, despite those notes including the same line. So it’s unlikely any security changes have been made in the new Mac update either.
Update: Apple has updated its webpage that lists enterprise-related changes in macOS. The notes detail one more fix available now in macOS 26.4.1:
Resolved an issue where MacBook Air with M5 and MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max failed to join 802.1X Wi-Fi networks while using content filter extensions.
So it seems that both macOS 26.4.1 and iOS 26.4.1 include fixes geared toward enterprise users—albeit different ones.
