AFI Fest wrapped its 39th edition on Sunday, October 26, with the world premiere of the closing-night film, Focus Features’ Song Sung Blue. The film was written and directed by Craig Brewer.
Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson led the cast on the red carpet, joined by co-stars Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi. Other attendees included Sutton Foster, Brenda Song, Samuel L. Jackson, Seth Green, Oliver Hudson, Danny Fujikawa and Ike Barinholtz.
Song Sung Blue is a 2025 musical drama starring Jackman and Hudson as real-life married couple Mike and Claire Sardina. Based on the 2008 documentary, the film follows the down-on-their-luck musicians as they find love and form the highly successful Neil Diamond tribute band, Lightning & Thunder, only to have their dream challenged by personal tragedy and the complexities of their blended family.
AFI Fest took place October 22–26 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
