Diane Keaton will forever be remembered as an icon in film. At her surprise death at age 79 on Oct 11, many are in mourning, including her exes Woody Allen and Al Pacino. In fact, a pal of Pacino’s just told DailyMail that he’s full of “regret.”
“Looking back, Al admits the love of his life was Diane who he’s always called, ‘an amazing woman.’ I know he will forever regret he didn’t make his move when he had the chance,” they said to the outlet. “For years after he and Diane split, Al used to say, ‘If it’s meant to be, it’s never too late for a do-over.’ But sadly, now it is.”
“Though he and Diane both lived in Beverly Hills, only a few miles from each other for years, they never spoke,’ the insider added. “I once asked him why, and he told me, ‘There’s no need to talk with each other. We said everything that needed to be said at the time.’”

For those who don’t know, Keaton and Pacino first met on the set of The Godfather in 1972, but didn’t start dating until 1974 after wrapping filming for The Godfather Part II. They had an on-again, off-again relationship, where they broke up for good in 1990 after an ultimatum: marry her or else.
Keaton briefly wrote about their time together in her memoir, Then Again, saying: “For me, the Godfathers, all three of them, were about one thing — Al. It was as simple as that,”
And they remained somewhat friendly. In fact, back in 2017, he made a sweet tribute to her for her receiving the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, saying, “I love you forever.”
