QUARTERBACKS

Jaxson Dart, New York Giants (Rostered in 35.4% of leagues on ESPN)

  • League Size: 10
  • Time Frame: Short Term, Long Term

Dart has started three games for the Giants. In each outing, he has scored twice and gained at least 50 rushing yards, accomplishing that on a ridiculous 10 carries per start. Only Jalen Hurts has hit that mark in recent seasons, and Hurts accomplished it with multiple “Tush Pushes.”

Dart is averaging 20.3 fantasy points per start, which is typically suitable for a mid-to-low-end QB1. His schedule will become slightly more difficult over the rest of the season, particularly this week against the Denver Broncos. However, his rushing production gives him a high floor, making his opponent less important than for a typical quarterback. Dart can generally be put in fantasy starting lineups going forward and isn’t the worst option for someone looking for a Week 7 replacement.

Joe Flacco, Cincinnati Bengals (4.5%)

  • League Size: 10, 12, 16
  • Time Frame: Week 7, Short Term, Long Term

The Bengals traded for Flacco earlier in the week, and he was instantly inserted into the starting lineup. He put together a fine Cincinnati debut, completing 29 of 45 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. He found Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins early and often, despite being teammates with them for less than a week. Ideally, he will gain even more chemistry with the pair over time.

Flacco accumulated 18.8 fantasy points, which puts him on the border of being a fantasy starter. He did that against an above-average Green Bay Packers defense at preventing fantasy points to quarterbacks. That will be one of the most difficult opponents Flacco will face all season.

The Bengals play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7. Pittsburgh allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the first five weeks, and Cincinnati’s next four opponents are against teams in the top eight in allowing fantasy points to quarterbacks. Three of their following five games are against teams in the top three at allowing fantasy points to quarterbacks.

Flacco can be in fantasy starting lineups for several weeks over the rest of the season, and he could very well be among the top 10 quarterbacks over the rest of the season.
