At the premiere of his new film Good Fortune tonight, Keanu Reeves remembered his Something’s Gotta Give co-star Diane Keaton, who died last week, as “a total pro.”

Reaves told E! News on the red carpet, “She was very nice to me. Generous artist and a very special, unique person.”

He continued, “It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together. Just with the history they shared and the way the fondness and love they had for each other. It was really cool.”

Reeves was 36 and Keaton 57 when the film came out in 2003. While she and Reeves had real chemistry onscreen, her character eventually ends up with Jack Nicholson’s more age-appropriate Harry.

Fans have long speculated about an alternate ending where Keaton’s character chooses Reaves’. In fact, when the duo presented at the 2020 Oscars, the chemistry was still there. Meyers herself later posted, “Whoa. Maybe they did end up together.”

The director remembered Keaton’s performance in the film earlier today.

“When I needed her to cry in scene after scene in Something’s Gotta Give she went at it hard and then somehow made it funny,” Meyers wrote. “And I remember she would sometimes spin in a kind of goofy circle before a take to purposely get herself off balance or whatever she needed to shed so she could be in the moment. She was fearless, she was like nobody ever, she was born to be a movie star.”
