The first two games of the ALCS have completely gone the Seattle Mariners’ way, as they now have a 2-0 lead for the first time ever in the league championship round.
“The Mariners’ potential this October seems limitless,” MLB Network insider Jon Morosi said after the M’s took down the Blue Jays 10-3 in Toronto in Game 2 Monday.

With a day off Tuesday before the series continues Wednesday at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park, the Mariners look to be in good shape for Game 3, no longer dealing the after-effects of their marathon 15-inning ALDS Game 5 win over the Detroit Tigers last Friday.
“The Mariners now decidedly have the edge both in the series and also just with the way their pitching has performed,” Morosi said. “They have (George) Kirby lined up, they have (Luis) Castillo lined up. Bryan Woo is healthy and can be a factor in this series late on.”
That being said, Morosi pointed out why fans shouldn’t expect what happened at Rogers Centre to necessarily continue with the series shifting to the Pacific Northwest.
“A couple words of caution, though: the last time a team took a 2-0 series lead in the ALCS on the road, it was the Rangers back in 2023. They promptly returned home and lost the next three games in a row.”
That Texas team did go on to win its first World Series championship that year, but it speaks to a larger point for Morosi.
“I mention all this to say this series is far from over,” he said.
And don’t forget how differently games have been played in October at T-Mobile Park compared to Toronto’s home stadium. In four postseason games in Seattle since 2022, three have gone to extra innings and none have seen a team score more than three runs in a single game.
“The run-scoring environment at T-Mobile is very different from what we’ve seen here at Rogers Centre,” Morosi said. “Remember in that series against the Tigers, every single game including the epic Game 5 had a 3-2 final score. So runs will likely be at a premium in Seattle.”
Before signing off, though, Morosi had one last thing to say that is undeniable.
“But goodness, the Mariners look very, very good right now.”
Game 3 of the Mariners’ ALCS against the Blue Jays is set for a 5:08 p.m. first pitch Wednesday at T-Mobile Park. Radio coverage on Seattle Sports will begin at 2 p.m. with extended pregame, while the TV broadcast will be on FS1.
