The New England Patriots might be looking to add another wide receiver before the NFL trade deadline on November 4. But who? It would have to be someone that complements that pass-catchers who are already excelling through six weeks, Stefon Diggs and Kayshon Boutte certainly being at the top of that list. Recent remarks from The Athletic’s Diana Russini suggest that Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown might become available, which is a situation the Patriots should at the very least monitor.
“The Eagles will continue to insist they have no plans to trade Brown, their star receiver,” Russini wrote.
“But every week that passes with problems piling up makes decision-makers around the league wonder. One league source told me: “Brown doesn’t look frustrated or mad — he looks indifferent. And that’s not a good place to be.” A GM in the AFC said, “I think Howie (Roseman) moves him. It would have to be for the right player or pick, but (a trade) wouldn’t surprise me. Howie likes deals, especially if a player’s value overrides how Brown is being used.” Most teams anticipate the asking price to be steep. Expect more calls as we near November.”
Brown might benefit from a change of scenery and an escape from Philly’s run-heavy system.
Brown could transform an already-talented Pats WR unit, offering Drake Maye a battle-tested 1,000-yard threat with three straight Pro Bowls under his belt. There’s also a connection between Pats head coach Mike Vrabel and Brown: Vrabel drafted and coached Brown in Tennessee.

New England could entice Philadelphia before the November 4 deadline—perhaps a first-rounder and mid-round assets. For Brown, it would be a fresh start in Foxborough. For the Pats, it would the offensive jolt needed for a serious playoff surge.
