Why You Need The Color Kindle On Sale For Black Friday
I’ve been an avid Kindle user for almost 10 years now, and I’ve watched Amazon evolve its devices over time, building lighter and faster versions that make the digital reading experience feel lifelike and friction-free. I’ve always been a Kindle Paperwhite devotee – especially because if its multi-week battery life and water-resistant capabilities — and loved taking the device on long flights, hole-in-the-wall coffee shops or just to my windowsill on rainy days. However, Amazon’s latest Colorsoft e-reader may have changed my mind about the Paperwhite – and even better, it’s over 30% off for Black Friday and at its lowest price ever on Amazon.
In the past, there were times I decided to let my Kindle go in favor of a paperback copy of a book. Sometimes it’s just nice to feel the weight of a book and flip through the various pages, reveling in the art of a hardcover copy. Moreover, the device’s black-and-white display wasn’t right for graphic novels – I need to see and feel the color to fully immerse myself in an illustrated book.
It seems like Amazon finally heard my constant prayers. They just released the Kindle Colorsoft, an e-reader that has — you guessed it — a color display. The first generation came out in October of last year and was unfortunately a let-down; fans complained about the constant yellow tint on the screen. Luckily, this updated model has eliminated the problem and I believe is a device that’s worth your buck.
The 2025 Colorsoft has a 7-inch screen and, just like the Paperwhite, is completely waterproof, meaning you can read in the pool or the bathtub without missing a beat.
It’s also a whole gram lighter than the previous model and is made from 18 percent recycled material, according to the brand. It holds 16 gigabytes of data and comes with three months of Kindle Unlimited, which gives you access to thousands of books and magazines — and yes, this includes comics, so you can take full advantage of the color screen.
Amazon made significant improvements on the display, with colors seeming more vivid and, of course, the aforementioned yellow tint finally eliminated. Text also looks brighter and is easier to read.
Apart from the comics, graphic novels, and books you’ll be devouring, you can also upload your own PDFs and documents to the Kindle Colorsoft. The Kindle supports a wide variety of text formats. There is also Bluetooth 5.1 built in, allowing you to connect your favorite pair of buds so you can enjoy all your audiobooks straight from this device.
Battery life runs a full eight weeks on the Kindle. This is less than the Kindle Paperwhite’s 10-week battery life but still decent enough to last multiple road trips or long-haul flights without needing to charge.
What I love about using the Colorsoft
The display is glare-free, meaning you can read in natural light as well, and the auto-adjustable brightness means your eyes won’t strain, no matter how bright or dark the skies are. I particularly enjoy reading this Kindle in the dark. Colors seem vivid and bright, and almost indiscernible from a tablet screen. Not only can you adjust the brightness, but also the warmth of the screen, giving you a fully customizable reading experience.
My one favorite part will always be using the highlight feature — which I can now use in color. I love highlighting my favorite quotes from books, and Kindle neatly organizes them in a separate document for you. Loading speeds and page-turning time felt snappy and responsive to me, and in the one week I had it, I didn’t face any crashes.
Resolution is better when you’re reading in black and white, but the color display itself is quite vivid and a big step up from the previous model’s lackluster display. If you’ve been waiting to buy the Colorsoft, this is the version you want.
The colors seem crisp, vivid, and while it isn’t like an actual paper book, the convenience of having thousands of books on such a lightweight portable device makes it worth it to me. The display is easy to use and colors generally seem more pronounced in this Kindle edition. Multiweek battery life and an IPX8 water-resistant rating are a boon, too. Sure, it might not be the brightest, highest-contrast Kindle out there (the Paperwhite still wins with this), but if you want an easier way to read comics and graphic novels on the go without lugging pounds of books around, the Kindle Colorsoft is for you.
Some Birkenstock-lookalike clogs beloved by reviewers with plantar fasciitis (30% off list price)
“I love these clogs. They are true to size and so comfortable,” one reviewer wrote of these Kidmi suede women’s clogs with a cork footbed. “I have wide feet at the toes and they give my plenty of room, and I have Plantar Fasciitis, so I need good arch support. I can wear these all day without pain. Fantastic value.”
The clogs look similar to the much more expensive Birkenstock Boston clogs. They have a deep heel cup, non-slip outsole and are lightweight with arch support. The shoes come in a bunch of colors and women’s sizes 5.5-14.
A portable water flosser reviewers say “outshines Waterpik” (23% off list price)
Waterpik may be the first brand you think of when you hear the words “water flosser,” but they’re by no means the only on the market. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, reviewers claim this portable water flosser “outshines Waterpik” for less money. The flosser can last up to 30 days before needing a charge, has four pressure settings and five tips and boasts a 300-milliliter water tank, so you don’t have to refill so often. The flosser comes in four colors.
A nausea relief inhaler a HuffPost writer put to the test (20% off list price)
In previous reporting, senior shopping writer Tessa Flores wrote about her experience using Allclair nausea relief inhalers. Prone to frequent waves of nausea, Flores wrote, “Just the other day, my partner decided to cook well-done eggs — which emitted an odor that, for whatever reason, makes me want to gag. I was driven to reach for this nondescript tube, and after just a couple of inhales, the fresh and medicinal vapor in my mouth and nose completely made the uncomfortable sensation dissipate. I’ve also whipped this out while feeling queasy on the train, in cars, and even following a night of one too many alcoholic beverages and it did the trick in seconds.”
The tube has the inhaler on one end and an oil dropper on the other, with both sides emitting a pleasant aroma made of natural herbs. The formula is non-medicated, and unlike other nausea relief products, it’s non-drowsy, too.
The gloss version of Clinique’s popular Black Honey lip balm (25% off list price)
We found a runaway bestseller during this year’s Prime Day in Clinique’s Black Honey lip balm, a cult-favorite beauty product. The balm isn’t on sale for Black Friday this year, but if you’re in love with this shade (and who wouldn’t be?), you can grab it in Clinique’s Pop Plush creamy lip gloss formula at a discount instead. Chock-full of hyaluronic acid, aloe butter, avocado butter and shea butter, the gloss is nourishing and hydrating while delivering a buildable wash of color and some high shine. The flattering yet dark and moody red is perfect for the winter season, if you ask us.

The iconic Stanley Quencher H2.0 tumbler (up to 50% off list price)
This cup needs no introduction. The iconic Stanley Quencher H2.0 tumbler of TikTok fame has been on sale only a handful of times this year. So given how often this thing was selling out at full price, don’t expect the stock to last too long during this super-rare sale. The insulated cup can keep your drink of choice hot or cold for hours, has a three-position lid for ultimate convenience and comes with an ergonomic grip handle for easy transport. It’s dishwasher-safe, has a lifetime warranty and is available in so many fun colors and sizes.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe vacuum (37% off list price)
I recently inherited a Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum from a family member, and my father (who considers himself something of a vacuum connoisseur) put it to the test in my apartment when he came to visit.
The vacuum’s main pod is detachable so you can use it as a handheld to clean with the included crevice and upholstery tools. The brushroll shutoff features makes it a breeze to switch between cleaning carpet and hardwood floors. And best of all, the vacuum has a HEPA filter so dust and allergens that get sucked up stay inside until you’re ready to empty the large-capacity dust cup. It’s definitely a slightly bulkier vacuum than some of the sleek stick ones out there, but the suction does the dang thing and the dust cup doesn’t require emptying as often.
LifeStraw personal water filter (43% off list price)
In the universe of HuffPost shopping, this LifeStraw personal water purifier would be its own planet. It’s a compact, handheld tool about as long as a fork that turns nearly any water safe for drinking.
Survivalist Ky Furneaux first recommended it to HuffPost, saying that anyone venturing outside should keep one handy as a precaution. “It’s light and doesn’t take up much room so it isn’t a huge inconvenience for something that may save your life,” she said, adding that “just knowing that water purification is taken care of takes a load off your mind and allows you to fully focus on other needs.”
“It can remove microplastics, bacteria, parasites and more (including E. coli, salmonella and giardia) from just about any water source,” wrote in our previous coverage. “One single filter has a long lifespan, providing about 1,000 gallons of clean and safe drinking water — making it well worth the price tag.”
While this is an easy “yes” for hikers and campers navigating water sources in the great outdoors, Uribe notes it can be a smart purchase for travelers and city slickers alike. “Even if you’re not big on the great outdoors, there’s no denying that there’s enough global instability to make one a bit nervous — and the existence of natural disasters alone is a good enough reason to have one in an emergency kit,” she said. Over 120,000 Amazon reviewers have helped the product earn a rare 4.8-star rating.
Biodance Bio Collagen overnight sheet mask (30% off list price)
It’s possible you’ve seen some version of these overnight hydrogel masks on TikTok that start off opaque and become transparent as all of the infused goodness absorbs into skin, leaving behind a complexion that’s hydrated and glass-like. These Biodance masks contain a collagen peptide that’s of a low molecular weight to penetrate deeper into the skin. It also has brightening niacinamide, moisture-trapping hyaluronic acid and galactomyces to improve skin tone and texture.
Crest 3D Whitestrips (34% off list price)
There’s a reason these things absolutely fly off the shelves when they go on sale: they really can work. All you have to do is peel off two strips and apply them for 45 minutes once a day, and Crest says you can see a difference of up to 20 shades whiter in about three weeks. This kit comes with 44 Professional Effects Whitestrips — enough for 22 days of treatments — and two one-hour Express Whitening treatments. Snag them while you can, as they’ve been known to sell out during big sales.
The Ring video doorbell for easy enhanced security (50% off list price)
This cult-fave video doorbell lets you see, hear and speak to anyone at your doorstep right from your phone, tablet or computer, so you can keep a live eye on your door wherever you are, including at nighttime. It also gives you mobile notifications when it detects motion or when someone presses the doorbell, so you’ll never miss a person or a package. The tool connects easily to Wi-Fi, is powered by a rechargeable battery (though you can also hook it up to your regular doorbell wiring for constant power) and is compatible with Alexa.
Plus, this version has been updated to include enhanced privacy and security features, like audio privacy, video encryption and restricted device access that you can control through the Ring app.
Hatch Rest smart sleep assistant for babies and kids (21% off list price)
“I really cannot recommend the Hatch Rest enough,” wrote senior shopping writer Lourdes Avila Uribe. “Since my son’s birth, my house has been outfitted in a range of different smart bulbs, sound machines and other similar items, but few get as much play as our Hatch. It’s an all-in-one device that can help with sleep habits thanks to dreamy lights, soothing music and customizable routines.”
Philips Sonicare 5300 electric toothbrush (45% off list price)
This set includes the Philips Sonicare 5300 machine, a charger, one G2 Optimal Gum Care brush head, a travel case, and two replacement DiamondClean brush heads. This is the lowest price we’ve seen it go for since Black Friday of last year, so a deal like this doesn’t come around often.
The newest 16-gig Kindle (27% off list price)
This well-rated Kindle e-reader hasn’t ever been marked down below $80 and only goes on sale two or three times a year, so you’ll wanna move on this quickly.
With a high-resolution, glare-free and paper-like display plus an adjustable built-in light and a dark mode — this e-reader can be used day and night. Its 16 GB of storage is enough to store thousands of books (and .pdfs and documents), and with an added Kindle Unlimited subscription (free for the first three months if you make the selection), you can just pull those ebooks from the cloud.
I own a different model (the Kindle Paperwhite) that transformed my reading experience: It’s the reason I was able to more than double the annual amount of books I read, from 12 in 2022 to 28 in 2023. My Kindle has essentially paid for itself, too, since I use the Libby app to check out digital copies of library books to read on my Kindle for free — no more time or money spent agonizing over bookstore prices, and I can have my next read in my hands within minutes of adding it to my TBR list.
This small device is perfect for commuters, travelers who can’t pack a ton of books or anyone looking to declutter their libraries.
Bissell Little Green carpet and upholstery cleaner (31% off list price)
“Boy, am I ever glad I bought one of these a few years ago,” wrote Janie Campbell, our former deals writer. “Every time I spill food on my rug — and this happens a lot — I just run for the Little Green, flip it on, spend a scant minute scrubbing and breath a sigh of relief. It gets stains out of carpet and rugs with a spray-and-scrub brush that also vacuums up the dirty water into the dirty water tank. It’s saved me from soy sauce, ketchup, dollops of curry and more than one dropped sandwich.”
This may just be one of the most beloved cleaning tools we cover, and reviewers have given it 4.4 stars in gratitude. It also comes with a free bottle of stain-removing solution you can mix into the clean water tank.
Coway Airmega AP-1512HH air purifier (37% off list price)
Former HuffPost editor Janie Campbell owns two of these Coway Airmega air purifiers and can confirm they’re as great as their reviews and ratings say (in addition to its 4.7-star Amazon rating, it’s one of Wirecutter’s top picks for best air purifier). It can clean a room of 361 square feet in 12.5 minutes or a room up to 874 square feet in 30 minutes, and in its eco and auto modes, it will constantly monitor air quality and kick in or up when it detects impurities or pollution. The three-stage system includes a washable pre-filter, an odor filter and a HEPA filter (it’ll let you know when it’s time to clean or replace a filter, making maintenance wildly easy).
Promising review: “I wish I had bought this sooner! We have it in our living room/kitchen area and it is excellent for dispatching dust. It’s so sensitive that when our giant dog farted, it ramped up to a higher cleaning level for 90 seconds to clear the air. 🙂 Definitely recommend this purifier-easy set up too.” — M. Midwesterner
Bose QuietComfort headphones (42% off list price)
Bose infused their signature high-fidelity sound and powerful noise-canceling technology into these over-the-ear wireless headphones that offer 20 hours of listening per charge. Enjoy 11 levels of active noise canceling and a microphone system that allows you to take calls and be heard, even in noisy environments.
Promising review: “The sound and comfort is noticeable over Beats. Purchased these on sale so it was only $30 more to purchase Bose and it is worth it.” — Pdx
“Honestly the prettiest music experience I’ve had with headphones… I love the purple.
Very comfortable too.” — Carissa
