To clinch its fifth straight national semifinal appearance, No. 1 Pitt defeated No. 3 Purdue 3-1 inside the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
The Panthers opened the match with back-to-back set wins (25-22, 25-21) to push the Boilermakers against the wall. Purdue flipped the script in Set 3 however, surviving with a 25-22 victory to extend the match to four.
Pitt charged ahead early in Set 4 and held on, hitting .464 to lock in the largest set win of the day, 25-17, and earn a trip to Kansas City.
Setter Brooke Mosher had a career night with 47 assists to propel her offense to .349 on hitting . She powered four kills of her own on six swings with seven digs and four blocks while earning back-to-back service aces to close out the match.
With the win, the Panthers become just the fourth team in NCAA women’s volleyball history to appear in five consecutive national semifinals.
