Latest Health Department data shows spike in respiratory virus activity
(WJAR) — The latest data posted by the Rhode Island Department of Health shows a spike in respiratory virus activity in the Ocean State.
In its dashboard summary, the total respiratory virus activity has risen across the board.
For the last three weeks, there have been increases in COVID-19 cases, flu cases, and RSV cases.
Emergency Department visits also saw a spike for flu cases, according to data from the RIDOH.
As of Dec. 27, 2025, there were 44 hospital admissions for COVID-19 and 147 for the flu.
The health department says 12 people have died because of COVID-19 and 5 deaths over the Flue.
