Adam Hagen – West Central Tribune
Adam Benjamin Hagen, 44, of rural Benton County passed at home Saturday, January 17, 2026 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Adam was born February 16, 1981 in Willmar, Minn. to Timothy and Laurie Hagen. On May 31, 2003 he married Kay Hostetler in Walkerton, Ind. They have one daughter, Anna, who is a senior at Benton Central High School.
Adam is survived by his wife and daughter, his parents, his brother Andrew (Maggie) Hagen, and sister Bonnie Hagen, as well as his mother and father in law David and Betty Hostetler. He was preceded in death by an older brother Benjamin.
An avid outdoorsman, Adam enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in the company of friends. His annual fishing trip and opening day of deer season were the highlights of his year as was overeating every Thanksgiving.
He was a loyal employee of Purdue University, starting work there as a graduate teaching assistant, and eventually accepting a position as an educational technologist. Adam loved teaching, and his team at Purdue.
While both of them were strong willed, and knew exactly how to press each other’s buttons, Adam and Kay were fiercely devoted to each other. So much so that Adam forgave Kay for bringing home a goat without permission, and was the first one in the barn taking pictures of the baby goats to share with his coworkers.
Just two days before passing Adam was able to congratulate Anna on her admission to Purdue. He was immeasurably proud of her achievements and excited to watch her life unfold.
In an effort to help with future expenses, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a college fund for Anna through ugift at https://www.ugift529.com/home.html Code 30E-V1J
