Gamers Ditch GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB As Prices Skyrocket, Crossing $700 At Retail

The reports of NVIDIA focusing on 8 GB cards align with the current state of one of its most powerful budget GPUs.

Things are looking pretty bad, and it might just be the start of what we reported in previous weeks. NVIDIA’s top budget/lower mid-range RTX 50 GPUs are becoming really expensive on the market, and this appears to be a global phenomenon. We checked the GPU prices on major NA and EU retailers, and one thing is common between them: the poor availability of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB. Some stores do have them, but the prices are so ridiculous that a month ago, you could have afforded an RTX 5070 Ti for the same price.

When it comes to the popular German retailer, Mindfactory, we are completely stunned by how gamers have started ditching the GPU. Last month, we saw the RTX 5060 Ti selling over 200 units in a week, including both the 16 GB and 8 GB editions. Last week, it dropped to just 20 units combined, with the majority likely coming from the 8 GB edition rather than the 16 GB version. Once you check the prices of these GPUs on Mindfactory, you will likely come to the same conclusion.

When you see the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB listed, starting at 619 Euros, it’s understandable why most gamers will rather choose the RX 9060 XT 16 GB for 449 Euros. The AMD GPU sold nearly 230 units in the same time frame, which proves the point. Now, if you take a look at Amazon UK, you will unlikely find a GPU for less than 700 Pounds, while the RX 9060 XT 16 GB is easily available for half the price. This is shocking, but not when you see that this is what NVIDIA planned recently as a new strategy to tackle the VRAM shortages.

NVIDIA is going to focus more on the GeForce RTX 5080 to offer premium gaming performance while offering the same memory capacity instead of maintaining a steady supply for slower 16 GB cards. This is why the RTX 5070 Ti recently got kicked out of the top 10 best-selling GPUs on Amazon US. The Radeon RX 9070 XT is facing a similar fate, but the RX 9060 XT 16 GB is saving the day.

Talking about Amazon US, we are seeing RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB starting at $679, and easily crossing $700 for some editions. The RX 9060 XT 16 GB is still selling for $399-$460, which makes buying the NVIDIA counterpart a senseless choice. For the budget segment, NVIDIA appears to be maintaining a steady supply for the RTX 5060, while for the high-end segment, it’s the RTX 5080, both of which are still a lot more expensive than they were a month ago.
