Samsung plans to sell a million units of its new wider foldable phone
Samsung only recently officially announced its tri-fold called the Galaxy Z TriFold and even sold some units in South Korea. But later this year, the company is expected to launch yet another foldable phone, rumored to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 this summer.
According to supply chain sources, Samsung is planning to sell at least 1 million units of the called Galaxy Wide Fold, or at least that’s the tentative name. The Wide Fold will feature a 4:3 foldable display in an attempt to rival the upcoming iPhone Fold, which is also rumored to have a 4:3 foldable panel.
And it’s not going to be a special-edition phone either. People familiar with the matter claim that Samsung is planning to produce 1 million units, meaning it’s about to become a full-fledged member of the Galaxy foldable lineup. This also signals Samsung’s confidence in the product and its belief that it will boost the sales of its foldable devices in general. For instance, the company sold about 6 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold7 last year, so 1 million sales in the first year of the new “Wide Fold” is certainly an ambitious target.
