How else do you think I can afford all this? Modeling?
Kendall Jenner, besides being a successful model and half-sister to Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, is best known for her high-profile relationships with NBA players. Many jokingly say the infamous “Kardashian curse” continued through her surname.
All the sisters share the same mother, Kris, and Kim and Khloe are best known for their past relationships with former NBA stars like Lamar Odom, Tristan Thompson and Kris Humphries. However, the older Jenner sister raised the bar, so to speak, deciding to date All-Star players.
She is known for her past relationships with Blake Griffin, Ben Simmons, and Devin Booker, and the 30-year-old model blasted her NBA exes in her latest Super Bowl commercial, filmed in collaboration with a “Fanatics Sportsbook”.
“‘Haven’t you heard?'” Kendall started with a touch of mystery in her voice. “The internet says I’m cursed. Any basketball player who dates me kinda hits a… rough patch. While the world’s been talking about it, I’ve been betting on it. How else do you think I can afford all this? Modeling? This pool? Basketball boyfriend one — missed the playoffs.”
The older Jenner sister then continued walking by the pool in a bikini with a smile on her face.
“I guess nobody was getting a ring in this house. Do you like this bad boy? Boyfriend number two got flopped right out of the league. Not that I ever drive,” Jenner added while sitting in an expensive car. “This cute jet? Thanks, boyfriend three! But today, it’s time to bet on something new. Football players.”
Jenner burned jerseys from her exes’
In the spot, where Jenner practically boasts about how she built her wealth from relationships with affluent basketball players, even burning their jerseys at one point, as she hints it might be time to try the same with NFL stars.
For some, the commercial will at least be controversial, as it not only promotes betting but also highlights the “WAGS” culture, where life can become much easier if you date a wealthy athlete, gaining both money and fame that can later help build a personal brand.
Although the commercial is humorous, when she says she’s “cursed,” it’s not entirely far from the truth. Griffin was reportedly with her between 2017 and 2018, during the season he was traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Detroit Pistons, missing the playoffs for the first time after six consecutive appearances.
After dating Kendall, every star had a decline in their career
Next was the former Australian star of the Philadelphia 76ers, with whom she had an on-and-off relationship from 2018 to 2020, years during which Simmons sharply declined in form and arguably never returned to the player he had been.
Her most recent relationship was with the Phoenix Suns All-Star, with whom she also had a turbulent relationship from 2020 to 2022, though some claim they are seeing each other again. Booker didn’t experience a significant drop in form, nor did his team, but it’s true that, after reaching the NBA Finals in 2021, they have been in a steady decline.
Any connection to a so-called curse is very likely far from the truth. Still, it continues the pattern of challenging romantic experiences for NBA players involved with the Jenner-Kardashian family. As for Kendall herself, her net worth today is around $80 million, a clear sign that she is independent and self-made, which only adds more and more fuel to the “curse”story.
