7-month-old girl shot and killed in Brooklyn – NBC New York
A 7-month-old girl in a stroller was shot and killed after gunfire rang out on a Brooklyn street, according to police sources.
Shots were fired after 1 p.m. near the corner of Moore Street and Humboldt Street in Williamsburg, law enforcement sources said.
The child’s mother and father ran into a nearby bodega for cover. When they looked down into the stroller, they saw their infant daughter covered in blood. Law enforcement sources said the baby had been shot in the head.
Both parents then ran their young child to Woodhull Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 2 p.m.
An investigation into the shooting was ongoing, with ballistic evidence recovered at the scene. No arrests had yet been made.
Two possible suspects were spotted leaving the scene up Humboldt Street on a moped, according to police sources. The pair were seen in a photo (below) riding a scooter, two law enforcement sources said.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the shooting a “tragedy” and said he would be joining NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch at a press conference Wednesday evening to give an update on the deadly incident.
