Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra only includes a black or white S Pen

The Galaxy S26 trio initially seemed like it might shake up Samsung’s usual status quo, but some stiff competition from Apple and a failed attempt to relaunch the Edge series seems to have thrown those original plans out the window. Now, it seems like the Galaxy S26 Ultra might be boring in a different way, as it appears to be losing out on its usual color-matching stylus for something a little more boardroom-friendly.

Leaked images from Nieuwe Mobiel show off the four “colorways” Samsung’s next S Pen will come in, but unlike previous generations, those splashes of color are limited to just the clickable tips that align with the phone’s frame. While those four shades match some of the leaked colors we’ve previously heard about for the Galaxy S26 Ultra — Cobalt Violet, Sky Blue, Black, and Silver — the actual stylus itself is either black or white, depending on the shade you’ve picked. That’s a far cry from the S26 Ultra’s predecessors, which traditionally match the phone’s color entirely.

Now, depending on your personal preferences, this might not be all bad. The Cobalt Violet and Sky Blue shades in particular make for a clean, two-tone appearance that might appeal to some buyers, and consider we have yet to see that leaked Pink Gold colorway make an appearance here, we could see a third shade fall into that category.

Even still, it’s a little disappointing to see a complete lack of any fully-colorized S Pen. The result is something that can’t help but feel like a cost cutting measure, despite the Ultra’s traditionally high asking price at launch.

It’s also the latest cut to the overall S Pen experience. Last year saw the removal of stylus support from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, months after the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen arrived without its usual Bluetooth-powered features. While eliminating matching colorways might seem like a small sacrifice in comparison, it’s difficult not to see it as yet another slight towards the once-defining feature of the Ultra-series as a whole.
