Sinclair to Stream Kid Rock, Counter-Programing Its Own Affiliates Carrying Super Bowl
During the Super Bowl, Sinclair’s digital stations Charge! and National News Desk will stream Kid Rock on Turning Point USA’s “All American Halftime Show,” an unusual move that will see the broadcast group essentially competing against its own affiliates for viewers.
According to Washington, DC anchor Jim Lokay, Sinclair owns and operates over 20 NBC stations around the country. But while NBC and Peacock are airing the (also All-American) Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Puerto Rican Bad Bunny, Sinclair will offer audiences the option to tune into its digital streams, where Kid Rock will perform with Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
Both performances will air around 8:00 p.m. ET, though NBC is expected to cut to better commercials.
Sinclair, which owns/operates more than 20 NBC affiliates nationwide (and ABC 7 in DC), is counter-programming its own affiliates on Super Bowl Sunday by airing the TPUSA “All-American Halftime Show” on its digital channels Charge! and National News Desk. https://t.co/SH6O23MtNY
