Drew Scott Shares Emotional Tribute After Devastating Loss: ‘My Heart Is Broken’

A fan favorite HGTV star shared an emotional tribute to a beloved family member after a difficult loss. Drew Scott took to Instagram on February 5 to reveal that his mother-in-law had died.

“My heart is broken. We have lost one of the most beautiful, kind and selfless people this plan has ever seen,” Scott wrote.

He continued, “Linda’s mom is truly one of a kind and was taken from us far too soon.”

Scott thanked his mother-in-law, Habu, for “bringing so much light to our lives.” He also noted her “infectious” laugh and wrote that he would always remember the nights the family spent playing her favorite game.

He included the name of the game in the caption of his post. He used Chinese lettering to reference the game, which appears to be a card game.

The HGTV star is married to Linda Phan, and they have two children together. The couple wed in 2018 and welcomed a son, Parker, in 2022 and a daughter, Piper, in 2024.

Scott’s Instagram post received a flood of support from colleagues and HGTV fans in response to his touching Instagram post.

His twin brother and fellow HGTV star, Jonathan Scott, commented, “What a loving soul through and through. May we always remember and feel the love she shared.”

Egypt Sherrodadded, “Oh no I am so very sorry for your loss. Please give Linda my love.”

Jasmine Roth wrote, “So sorry to hear this. Sending love to your family.”

Dave Marrs shared, “I’m so very sorry for your family’s loss. My heart goes out to you all.”

A fan commented, “I am so truly sorry for Linda and your family’s loss. Habu seems like she was such a wonderful and beautiful soul.”

On Facebook, someone else shared, “I’m so sorry for your loss. To lose a parent is one of the hardest things…It is the memories that buoy us and keep us moving forward. Talking about them, their traits, goofy stories, their faults, their successes and failures. They all keep them a bit present with us.”
