1:00 PM Eastern
Eastern Michigan Eagles vs. Appalachian State Mountaineers
In a tight game, Appalachian State can’t be trusted late, ranking 365th out of 365 Division I teams in free throw shooting percentage at 63.2%. Eastern Michigan has been respectable defensively on the interior, ranking 152nd in opponent two-point shooting percentage, which is even more important with Appalachian State making just 31.6% of their three-point attempts, ranking 287th nationally. Eastern Michigan also shouldn’t have issues with turnovers against an Appalachian State defense that ranks 331st in turnovers per possession generated.
Pick: Eastern Michigan +6.5 (Greg’s Handicap Eastern Michigan +1)
2:00 PM Eastern
Butler Bulldogs vs. Marquette Golden Eagles
Marquette has allowed plenty of second-chance opportunities, ranking 293rd in defensive rebound percentage, while Butler’s strength is generating extra possessions, ranking 58th in offensive rebound percentage by pulling in 33.3% of their misses. Butler also holds a clear shooting edge, as Marquette ranks 297th in three-point shooting percentage at 31.5% and 337th in free throw shooting percentage at 66.9%, while Butler shoots 34.1% from three and 70.6% at the line.
Pick: Butler +2.5 (Greg’s Handicap Butler -4.5)
St. Bonaventure Bonnies vs. Fordham Rams
Both teams play at a slow tempo, with St. Bonaventure ranking 240th and Fordham 353rd in possessions per game. St. Bonaventure ranks 245th overall in points per possession allowed, but that improves to 97th in road or neutral-court games. Fordham has controlled the boards, ranking 19th in rebound percentage, and has been solid defensively, ranking 62nd in points per possession allowed.
Picks: Fordham Moneyline and Under 139.5 (Greg’s Handicap Fordham -1 and Total 137)
North Texas Mean Green vs. UT San Antonio Roadrunners
Prior to North Texas’ double-overtime game against Rice on Thursday, the Mean Green ranked 298th in possessions per game and, excluding overtime, had exceeded 67 points in a road or neutral-court game just once all season. North Texas remains stout defensively, ranking third in turnovers per possession generated away from home and 23rd overall in points per possession allowed in those games. UT San Antonio ranks 361st out of 365 Division I teams in points per possession at home.
Pick: North Texas vs. UT San Antonio Under 139.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 127)
Florida Gulf Coast Eagles vs. Bellarmine Knights
Florida Gulf Coast plays at a fast tempo, ranking 78th in possessions per game, and should find plenty of easy scoring opportunities against a Bellarmine defense that ranks 363rd in points per possession allowed. Florida Gulf Coast has its own defensive issues, ranking 271st in points per possession allowed, while Bellarmine has executed well inside, ranking fifth nationally in two-point shooting percentage and third in home free throw shooting percentage at 83.4%.
Pick: Florida Gulf Coast vs. Bellarmine Over 153.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 162.5)
2:30 PM Eastern
Utah Utes vs. Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas’ offense has looked completely different with Darryn Peterson on the floor, scoring at least 74 points in 11 of the 12 games he’s played in, while being held to 73 points or fewer in five of the 10 games without him. Kansas should improve on its current ranking of 79th in points per possession against a Utah defense that ranks 301st in points per possession allowed. Both teams should have clean possessions, as Utah ranks 98th in tempo and 335th in turnovers per possession on defense, while Kansas ranks 348th in turnovers per possession generated.
Pick: Utah vs. Kansas Over 149 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 155)
3:00 PM Eastern
Bowling Green Falcons vs. Arkansas State Red Wolves
Bowling Green has been excellent at limiting scoring chances, ranking 35th in turnovers per possession on defense, 54th in defensive rebound percentage, and 21st in points per possession allowed. Arkansas State has struggled offensively, ranking 342nd in turnovers per possession and allowing teams to score efficiently inside, ranking 48th in opponent two-point shooting percentage.
Picks: Bowling Green +2 and Under 155.5 (Greg’s Handicap Bowling Green -1.5 and Total 153.5)
4:00 PM Eastern
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers
Both offenses have been efficient, with Alabama ranking 21st and Auburn 30th in points per possession. Auburn has struggled on the perimeter, ranking 234th in three-point shooting percentage at 32.8% and allowing opponents to shoot 34.9% from three, ranking 238th. This is especially impactful against an Alabama team that takes 54% of its shots from beyond the arc, ranking second nationally in three-point attempt rate.
Picks: Alabama +3 and Under 176.5 (Greg’s Handicap Alabama -1 and Total 171)
SIU Edwardsville Cougars vs. Little Rock Trojans
SIU Edwardsville owns one of the strongest road defenses in the country, ranking 39th overall in points per possession allowed and improving to ninth in away games, while ranking sixth in opponent two-point shooting percentage on the road. Little Rock ranks 32nd nationally in the percentage of shots taken inside the three-point line but has struggled with fundamentals, ranking 288th in free throw shooting percentage and 336th in turnovers per possession.
Pick: SIU Edwardsville +1.5 (Greg’s Handicap SIU Edwardsville -3.5)
4:30 PM Eastern
Grand Canyon Antelopes vs. UNLV Runnin’ Rebels
Grand Canyon has been strong defensively, ranking 27th in points per possession allowed overall and improving to 10th in road games, while also ranking 40th in rebound percentage. While their 24.9% three-point shooting away from home ranks 363rd nationally, they should find success inside against a UNLV defense that ranks 240th in opponent two-point shooting percentage. Both teams have struggled with turnovers, but this game projects to feature plenty of free throws, where Grand Canyon holds a significant edge, shooting 75.2% at the line compared to UNLV’s 68%.
Picks: Grand Canyon -3 and Under 149.5 (Greg’s Handicap Grand Canyon -6.5 and Total 144.5)
6:00 PM Eastern
Seton Hall Pirates vs. Creighton Blue Jays
Neither team plays at a fast pace, with Seton Hall ranking 292nd and Creighton 230th in possessions per game. Seton Hall further limits clean possessions by ranking 10th in turnovers per possession generated and 16th overall in points per possession allowed on defense. Offensively, Seton Hall has struggled, ranking 301st in two-point shooting percentage and 327th in three-point shooting percentage.
Pick: Seton Hall vs. Creighton Under 140.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 136.5)
6:30 PM Eastern
Duke Blue Devils vs. North Carolina Tar Heels
Both teams have dominated the glass, with Duke ranking seventh and North Carolina 23rd in rebound percentage. Duke relies heavily on efficient two-point offense, ranking fourth nationally, but faces a North Carolina defense that ranks first in the country in opponent two-point shooting percentage at home. North Carolina also takes better care of the ball, ranking 13th in turnovers per possession on offense compared to Duke’s 131st ranking.
Pick: North Carolina +5.5 (Greg’s Handicap North Carolina +3.5)
8:00 PM Eastern
Clemson Tigers vs. California Golden Bears
Clemson has been effective at slowing games down, ranking 322nd in possessions per game and 19th in points per possession allowed, but now travels cross-country to face a California team that has excelled on the perimeter. California ranks 43rd in fewest turnovers per possession, 24th in three-point shooting percentage at 37.8%, and 15th in three-point shooting percentage defense at 29.4%. In a tight game, California also holds an edge at the free throw line, ranking 22nd nationally at 77.5%.
Picks: California +3.5 and Under 138.5 (Greg’s Handicap California -1 and Total 135)
Utah State Aggies vs. Wyoming Cowboys
Wyoming ranks 233rd in possessions per game on the season and has fallen outside the top 300 since Mountain West play began. They face a Utah State defense that leads the country in turnovers per possession generated away from home and ranks 14th overall in points per possession allowed in road or neutral-court games. Wyoming has defended better at home, but Utah State plays at a manageable tempo, ranking 202nd in possessions per game.
Pick: Utah State vs. Wyoming Under 147.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 141.5)
9:30 PM Eastern
Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Colorado Buffaloes
Arizona State has been far more efficient offensively away from home, ranking 46th in points per possession compared to 259th at home, with their three-point shooting improving from 30.7% to 38%. Colorado ranks 326th in opponent three-point shooting percentage and should also allow clean looks against an Arizona State defense that gives up 38.5% from three on the road and ranks 242nd in points per possession allowed.
Pick: Arizona State vs. Colorado Over 156.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 165)
10:30 PM Eastern
Houston Cougars vs. BYU Cougars
Houston continues to limit possessions and lock in defensively, ranking fourth in points per possession allowed and 323rd in possessions per game. BYU ranks 24th in defensive rebound percentage at home, allowing opponents to rebound just 21.4% of missed shots. Houston has been a middling shooting team, ranking 176th in three-point shooting percentage and 107th in two-point shooting percentage.
Pick: Houston vs. BYU Under 151.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 142.5)
