Here’s Another Major PS5, PS4 Game Getting Delisted Soon
The PS5, PS4 social game Rec Room has joined the list of titles about to be delisted from the PS Store, as confirmed by developer Against Gravity.
The game will go offline on 1st June 2026, at which point Rec Room will be rendered unplayable, and the online servers turned off. The studio will slowly take steps to wind down the title’s premium currency purchases and creator options in May, but already, the ability to make a new account has been removed.
Against Gravity has made this decision because Rec Room has not been profitable. Despite reaching over 150 million players, the team “never quite figured out how to make Rec Room a sustainably profitable business. Our costs always ended up overwhelming the revenue we brought in.”
A statement on the game’s official website continues: “We spent a long time trying to find a way to make the numbers work. But with the recent shift in the VR market, along with broader headwinds in gaming, the path to profitability has gotten tough enough that we’ve made the difficult decision to shut things down.”
The news is being shared now so the developer can do “right by the people who built this with us”, and it has released a new video documenting that journey:
Against Gravity signs off by thanking the Rec Room community for making the game a welcoming place for the past decade. “Your boundless creativity and enthusiasm has been a source of great inspiration and joy. We wish we could have found a way to keep things rolling, but unfortunately this is the end of the road.”
Anyone with a RR+ subscription will see their membership automatically extended to 1st June 2026. If you have a three, six, or 12-month subscription active then you’ll receive a refund for the time you miss out on due to the delisting.
