College basketball transfer portal tracker 2026: Live updates, entries and moves
Michigan has been crowned the 2026 national champion and the 2025-26 college basketball season is now over. But there is no break or time to rest on your laurels — free agency is officially underway.
The 2026 college basketball transfer portal officially opened on Tuesday. Players from across the country can now enter their name into the transfer portal, visit schools and commit to new programs. And it will happen fast because the 2026 transfer portal is the shortest window to date. Players have two weeks to enter their name before it closes on April 21. Of course, once it closes, movement can still occur; players can still take visits and commit.
Behind the scenes, teams have been analyzing their rosters and lining up target lists with plenty of back-channeling to try and figure out who will be available and for how much. But the faucet is about to be turned on because the money is up throughout college basketball. There’s a growing consensus that $12 million is the benchmark to be a top-25 team in the country.
We’re expecting a flurry of action this week with visits getting scheduled and the first dominoes to start falling.
Michigan proved that winning a National Championship with a portal-heavy roster is possible. Michigan’s four starters — Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson, Elliot Cadeau and Aday Mara — were all rated inside the top-75 in the 2025 portal haul.
But the portal can be cruel, too.
It’s big stakes with huge ramifications on 2026-27.
