Apex Legends Season 27, titled Amped, delivers one of the biggest movement-focused updates the game has seen in years.
The new season rebuilds Olympus from the ground up with four new POIs, reworks Valkyrie, Rampart, and Horizon, and introduces the Double Tap Hop-Up for the Alternator.
Apex players will also experience the new Mantle Boost mechanic for faster ledge movement, improved Trident controls, and the Supersonic Wildcard event featuring the first-ever Mythic R-99.
Check out the early patch notes below, ahead of the full patch notes, which will be released closer to the season launch on November 4.
Apex Legends Season 27 early patch notes
Olympus Updates
The reworked Olympus introduces four new POIs: Somers University, Gravity Engine, Stabilizer, and Dockyard, each designed to improve map flow, vertical combat, and rotation safety.
- Somers University: Replaces Orbital Cannon, built by Horizon as a research hub featuring lifts and high-ground control.
- Gravity Engine: Replaces Energy Depot, using Branthium to power the city with new lifts and zip rails.
- Stabilizer: Takes the place of Docks, offering floating rock paths and outer ballast zones.
- Dockyard: Expands Hydroponics with faster vertical routes and compact cover.
According to Senior Level Designer Michael Shannon, the new Olympus aims to reward skillful play and fix problematic open areas, creating “something for everyone” from hot drop zones to safer rotations. Lore-wise, the map is revealed to be an alternate Olympus recovered from the snow-covered planet Pagos, with Horizon leading restoration efforts after its crash.
Legend Updates
Valkyrie:
- VTOL Jets recharge three times faster and take off quicker.
- Skyward Dive Ultimate launches sooner.
- Missile Swarm now causes no self-damage, scans enemies, and disables their movement passives.
These changes return Valkyrie to her jet fighter fantasy, restoring her mobility and threat in aerial combat.
Rampart:
- Amped Cover evolves with gameplay, gaining health as Evo levels increase and adding a roof.
- Infinite ammo and faster reloads when firing behind cover.
- Regenerating walls out of combat.
Rampart now transitions from static defense to mobile area control.
Horizon:
- Gravity Lift cooldown reduced, lift speed increased.
- Black Hole Ultimate gains more health.
- Fast fall and gliding options added, with bonus lift charges on knockdowns.
Horizon regains her vertical dominance, offering more responsive aerial movement.
Movement Updates
The Mantle Boost mechanic adds a forward burst when climbing ledges, helping players close gaps faster. Tridents now have dedicated health pools, visible damage indicators, and improved collision handling.
Respawn EntertainmentLead BR Designer Eric Canavese said these upgrades make high-speed movement more accessible and visually satisfying.
Double Tap Hop-Up
The new Double Tap Hop-Up for the Alternator fires both barrels simultaneously, delivering devastating close-range bursts. Weapons Designer Casey O’Brien described it as “incredibly deadly at close range, and most importantly, incredibly fun.”
