‘ARC Raiders’ Patch Notes, Concurrent Players And Record Scores
I was trying to figure out which ARC Raiders story to focus on today, as a bunch of different news items kept popping up. Well, I ultimately decided to roll them all up into one bundle here, covering both additions to the game and the huge numbers it’s putting up.
ARC Raiders 1.1.0 Patch Notes
These patch notes are mostly bug fixes, but there are a few new additions to the game coming this weekend as part of the game’s desire to constantly add little things in between big things:
- Fixed the issue where the Integrated Shield Recharger was only recharging when equipped
- Fixed an issue where Augment skills sometimes did not work
- Fixed exploit using deployables pushing players through walls
- Added a charge progress for Integrated Shield repair
- Fixed an issue where Health Regen skills wouldn’t work if they were triggered while DBNO
- Fixed the bug where the Well-Travelled achievement wouldn’t register
- Barricades can no longer be placed near zipline exit points
- Added the Punch Hands emote (preorder bonus) in game
- New Map Conditions – Hidden Bunker, Night Raid – Blue Gate, Electromagnetic Storm
Concurrent Players
I am often accused of using Steam numbers to prematurely suggest a game has “fallen off,” but the story today is that ARC Raiders is putting up rock-solid concurrent figures after its big launch. It is still topping 300,000 concurrents every night, even on weeknights. It has 170,000 concurrent players as I’m writing this at 8 AM ET.
This is still week one, there is no way to extrapolate this out too much further, but this is a wild success for both Embark and just in general, a brand new IP in the multiplayer space. We saw huge numbers out of Marvel Rivals at launch, another new MP game this year, but that is…Marvel, and developed by mega-dev NetEase. This is a more impressive story, in context.

Review Scores
There has been a push from a lot of PvP players that ARC Raiders now deserves to be in GOTY contention, or even win, as the awards almost always favor single-player games. That’s true, and while such a nomination remains to be seen, the actual critic scores are painting a stellar picture. With an 87 Metascore, ARC Raiders is actually one of the highest-score pure multiplayer shooter games ever. In fact, it’s in second place, only behind Overwatch’s 91 score at launch in 2016. Over on OpenCritic, ARC Raiders has a 93 score, which makes it the best-reviewed multiplayer-only shooter on the site.
ARC Raiders is without question one of the year’s biggest success stories. I would classify it alongside Expedition 33 in the sense that this is a relatively out-of-nowhere megahit from a small studio that no one was expecting to blow up like this. It seems to have a bright future ahead.
