A Former NC State Player’s Perspective on Justin Gainey: Rodney Monroe
I’ve connected with quite a few former NC State players to get their thoughts on the hiring of Justin Gainey as the new head coach for the Wolfpack Men’s Basketball team. Next up is the legendary Rodney Monroe!
So far, we’ve heard from:
Jeremy Hyatt
Brandon Costner
Ben McCauley
Monroe didn’t play with Gainey, nor did he play for him, but you’ve got to love it when one of the best players to ever play at NC State loves the hire.
Monroe is NC State’s career scoring leader, and his career scoring average of 20.6 points per game is tied for 2nd. He ranks 2nd career three pointers made, and his career three point percentage of 43.6% ranks 4th.
Here’s what Monroe had to say about the hiring of Gainey:
“I am very pleased with the Pack’s decision to hire Justin Gainey. He’s a local guy. He played and went to school at State. He worked at State, and has always had big love for State. I’m very excited to see Justin put his finger sprints all over this program.”
