Alec Baldwin said he and his brother are “fine” after he crashed the car he was driving in the Hamptons on Monday.
In a video posted to Instagram, Alec Baldwin said he was driving with his brother, Stephen Baldwin, in his wife’s car in East Hampton, a town in Long Island, New York, when a large garbage truck caused him to veer off the road and hit a tree.
The East Hampton Police Department did not respond to a request for more information on the crash. A representative for Alec Baldwin did not respond to a request for comment.
The Baldwin brothers were in town over the weekend for the Hamptons International Film Festival, Alec Baldwin said.
Alec Baldwin explained in the Instagram video that while driving in East Hampton on Monday morning, a “garbage truck the size of a whale” cut him off on the road.
“To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree,” Alec Baldwin said, crushing his wife’s car in the process. He said the car is “pretty smashed up” after hitting the “big, fat tree.”
“That’s all fine, and I’m fine, and my brother’s fine,” Alec Baldwin said. He added that he is now headed to Los Angeles to see his family.
Alec Baldwin took time in the video to thank the East Hampton Police Department and the officer who helped him and his brother after the crash. He also congratulated everyone involved in the Hamptons Film Festival.
