Gold medal Olympian Alysa Liu delivered on her promise to skate to PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, and we are thankful she did. Wearing a sparkly navy dress, she translated the joy of her free skate into the song “Stateside,” then danced and blew kisses to the camera. Thankfully, Liu didn’t make the last-minute change to Minnie Mouse’s “Furry Valentine” song — the one that really sounds like a Pantheress track — maybe that can go in another exhibition.
Liu has been teasing her “Stateside” skate all week while sharing her love for PinkPantheress. “I’m going to do the Olympic Gala performance, and I’ll have a new program to ‘Stateside’ by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, the remix,” she told NBC. “I’ll have a new dress, and I’m going to perform once again on the big stage.” The two-time Olympic gold medalist also called “Passion” one of the songs in her toolbox that hyped her up before a performance. But there’s no real motivation like your favorite singer wishing you luck herself. “I hope you have a really good show. You are so inspiring, and when I was younger, I was obsessed with figure skaters, so you are literally living my dream,” PinkPantheress shared in a special video message to Liu ahead of her historic win.
