AMD Zen 6 Medusa 1 “A0” Silicon Stepping Spotted In NBD Shipping Manifest With 28W TDP, Pointing At “Low-TDP” CPU Lineup
It’s not the first time the upcoming AMD mobile CPU lineup appeared in leaks, and this one further solidifies the previous reports.
AMD Low-TDP 28W Medusa Point Appears in NBD Shipping Log, Confirming Earlier Leaked Specifications
Another NBD shipping manifest just confirmed some of the previously leaked specs of the upcoming AMD Zen 6-based CPU lineup. If you remember, last month, a similar NBD shipping manifest revealed that the Medusa Point CPU family will be categorized into two: High TDP and Low TDP, boasting 45W and 28W TDP ratings, respectively. The new log appears to feature the early silicon revision for the latter.
It appeared by the name Medusa 1 A0, indicating it’s the first silicon stepping, which means it’s still under validation and internal testing. The log reveals a 28W TDP rating for this family, which indicates it’s the “Low TDP” variant, which will utilize the same FP10 socket as the High TDP family. This Low TDP family will feature mostly Ryzen 5 and 7 series SKUs, bringing 4 Classic + 4 Dense + 2 Low Power cores, while the High TDP SKUs will mostly bring the Ryzen 9 SKUs with up to 22 Core configuration, which comes as a result of a dedicated 12 Core CCD.
So, this 28W or Low TDP family is kinda successor to the AMD Krackan Point family, and could compete against budget Nova Lake mobile processors. There isn’t much info on Medusa Point yet, but it is likely going to bring a wide range of SKUs, which has been made possible by the new monolithic chip design.
As far as the iGPU is concerned, we aren’t going to see any top-notch improvements in the architecture, as the current RDNA 3.5 architecture will be retained on these chips as well. As for the GPUs or integrated graphics based on the upcoming UDNA or RDNA 5 architecture, we won’t likely see them before 2027. Since RDNA 4 is exclusive to the discrete GPU lineup, RDNA 3.5 is the only architecture left for Zen 6.
What to expect from Medusa Point?
- Architecture: Zen 6
- Cores: 10-22 Cores
- TDP: 45W, 28W
- iGPU: RDNA 3.5, 8 Compute Units
- Socket: FP10
