Apple iPhone 17e Launch, Price, Features & Specifications Details – Here Is Everything You Need To Know
Apple’s low-cost iPhone launch strategy lived on with the arrival of the iPhone 16e, with the company quickly moving to unveil the iPhone 17e, its immediate successor, in the coming weeks. Naturally, to save up on production costs as much as possible and in light of the DRAM shortage, there isn’t expected to be much of a cosmetic difference, but you might be interested in what’s underneath the hood. Here’s everything you need to know about the iPhone 17e’s launch, features, and specifications.
Design and display
A transition to the Dynamic Island instead of a notch is about the only major change we’re expecting from the iPhone 17e on the outside, with a 60Hz OLED panel expected to be used just like Apple did with the iPhone 16e. To ensure the device is mass produced with the lowest Bill of Materials (BoM) possible, Apple has reportedly entrusted Chinese display maker BOE to fulfill all orders, with the manufacturer estimated to ship around 8 million units. In short, the iPhone 17e isn’t touted to be a high-volume product.
Chipset and other specifications
A plus point to upgrade to the iPhone 17e is that it will be treated to almost the same silicon as the base iPhone 17, the A19. Unfortunately, that’s where things can get a little confusing because even the iPhone 16e shipped with the A18, but here’s the twist.
This SoC sports a 4-core GPU instead of a 5-core one, leading to about a 10 percent performance reduction in benchmarks like 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited. Similarly, the A19 may also sport a 4-core GPU, with the iPhone 17e reported to ship with the same C1 5G modem as its direct predecessor, leaving the newer C2 baseband chip reserved for the iPhone 18 series.
Camera
It is unlikely that Apple will introduce a new sensor to the iPhone 17e, with the latter probably sticking with the same 48MP primary unit from the iPhone 16e, with the front side getting treated to a 12MP sensor. If anything, Apple’s improved computational photography will allow the iPhone 17e to capture similar, if not better quality images and video as the iPhone 16e.
Battery
The battery capacity details are currently unknown on the iPhone 17e, but we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Apple reused the same 4,005mAh cell present in the iPhone 16e. However, on this occasion, the newer model is expected to last longer since Apple has made some efficiency improvements to the A19, with the C1 5G modem offering a healthy boost too.
Price
Keeping the DRAM crisis in mind, one would assume that Apple will be forced to increase the iPhone 17e’s price. Thankfully, one rumor mentioned that the technology giant has received a supply chain efficiency boost, meaning that it can pretty much freeze the device’s MSRP or even lower it. At the very least, we expect the iPhone 17e to retail for $599 in the U.S. for the 256GB model, and that’s excellent news for those wanting the iPhone 16e, as it can be available at a discounted rate.
Launch
A previous rumor claimed that the iPhone 17e would enter mass production after CES 2026 concluded, with a fresh update stating that a launch would happen on February 19. For those who don’t know, February 19 is the same date as when the iPhone 16e was announced, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple repeats history.
The Cupertino firm was previously said to be unsure about going through with a launch, but looking at the current market, where consumer electronics’ prices have or will shoot through the roof, the iPhone 17e can offer buyers a haven to enjoy Apple’s ecosystem without burning a massive hole in their wallet.
