Battlefield 6 is the franchise’s biggest ever game on Steam, clocking up over 700,000 concurrent players within 24 hours of its debut.

While also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S — the player numbers for which are unknown at this time — by amassing 747,440 concurrent players on release day, it’s officially now the biggest Battlefield game on Steam, and the fourteenth biggest in Steam history according to SteamDB’s Most Played Games chart.

In 2020, EA began reintroducing its games, including the Battlefield series, to Valve’s storefront. But EA’s period away from Steam means that while we can compare the concurrent player count of 2021’s Battlefield 2042, we can’t compare the specific Steam launch numbers of other popular entries Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5.

The Battlefield 6 milestone comes just weeks after Battlefield 6 Open Beta became the series’ most played game on Steam, having reached a peak concurrent player count of 521,079 during its first weekend.

The announcement of a leveraged buyout of Electronic Arts by a private-equity consortium – which includes Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) Silver Lake, and the independent investment firm Affinity Partners, headed by U.S. president Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner – sent shockwaves through the games industry.
