Bears predictions: Week 10 vs. Giants
The Sun-Times’ Bears experts make their picks for the game against the Giants on Sunday at Soldier Field (noon, Fox 32):
Patrick Finley
Bears, 28-24: Ever wonder why Wilson NFL footballs have “The Duke” printed on them? Bears founder George Halas suggested it after Giants founder Tim Mara arranged the equipment contract in 1941. One of his sons, Wellington, was named after the Duke of Wellington. Season: 5-3.
Jason Lieser
Bears, 31-26: The Giants aren’t a total pushover at 2-7 and already have beaten the Eagles and Chargers, so there’s a good chance they’ll put a scare in the Bears. Season: 4-4.
Scoop Jackson
Giants, 34-31: If last week was the “wake-up call,” this week will be the reminder. Unpredictability remains the Bears’ greatest — and most unnerving — quality. Season: 3-5.
Steve Greenberg
Bears, 34-27: The Giants are 0-5 on the road and — though they’ve played a tough schedule and been more competitive than their overall record (2-7) suggests — wouldn’t know good mojo if it kissed them on the mouth. QB Jaxson Dart shows real promise, at least. Season: 6-2.
Mark Potash
Bears, 42-23: A home game against yet another bottom-five defense is a nice, soft landing for a Bears team coming down from an incredible high after the thrilling — and fortunate — victory against the Bengals. Timing is everything. Season: 6-2.
