Bills acquiring DJ Moore from Bears in trade stunner

The Bills have a new weapon for Josh Allen.

Buffalo is acquiring wide receiver DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick from the Bears for a 2026 second-rounder, according to multiple reports.

The trade can officially go through on Wednesday at the start of the new league year.

The 28-year-old had a down year statistically in 2025, catching 50 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns, but he has four 1,100-yard seasons across his eight-year career, which began with the Panthers.

Brady was Carolina’s offensive coordinator in 2020 and ’21, when Moore combined for 159 catches, 2,350 yards and eight touchdowns.

Moore signed a four-year, $110 million contract extension with Chicago before the 2024 season. His deal runs through 2029, and as part of the trade the Bills are guaranteeing $15.5 million of Moore’s 2028 base salary, his agents told ESPN.

Buffalo fired head coach Sean McDermott after losing to the Broncos in overtime in the divisional round and promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to be its new coach.

Khalil Shakir, a 2022 fifth-round pick, was the Bills’ leading receiver in 2025 with 72 catches, 719 yards and four touchdowns. Tight ends Dalton Kincaid (571 yards) and Dawson Knox (417 yards) were their second-and-third-leading receivers, respectively.

Keon Coleman, an early second-round pick in 2024 whose production has come under scrutiny, had 404 yards and four touchdowns.

The Bills had been monitoring A.J. Brown amid rumors the Eagles could trade him, according to NFL Network, but Buffalo made its move for Moore and hopes he can put their offense over the top.

The Bears, meanwhile, still have 2024 first-round pick Rome Odunze and 2025 second-round pick Luther Burden at receiver, along with tight end Colston Loveland, a 2025 first-rounder.

Chicago saves $16.5 million in cap space with the trade, and they also will save $10 million due to Pro Bowl center Drew Dalman’s surprise retirement.
