Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, USA vs. Puerto Rico Box Score, Reaction from FIBA World Cup Qualifier

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese were back in action for the United States’ latest qualifying matchup with Puerto Rico ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Team USA put together another dominant performance on Thursday, wrapping up a 91-48 win over Puerto Rico.

Clark finished with eight points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in just over 18 minutes on the floor. She shot 2-of-6 from the field and 1-of-5 from three-point territory.

Reese recorded a double-double in the win, scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. She shot 50 percent on field goals while making her presence felt defensively, picking up one steal and one block.

The United States didn’t face much resistance during the contest, opening the game on a 16-3 run before taking a 24-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Team USA outscored Puerto Rico by 26 points over the final three quarters, cruising to the blowout win.

The U.S. squad’s success was particularly impressive considering it couldn’t find much rhythm from behind the arc, shooting just 26.9 percent on triples overall.

Team USA dominated around the basket instead, shooting 67.5 percent on two-point field goals and scoring 38 points in the paint.

Paige Bueckers led the United States with 16 points, connecting on seven of her 12 field-goal attempts. She also shot 2-of-5 from three.

Kelsey Plum was also a key contributor in the win, finishing with 12 points and two steals in just over 21 minutes.

The United States has already clinched a spot in the 2026 FIBA World Cup by winning the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup, but the qualifying games are still giving players opportunities to stand out and potentially lock up spots on the World Cup roster.

Team USA’s next qualifier will occur against Italy on Saturday.
